Arend kleurplaten.
The Final Project
Woah, what a semester it has been! We have all accomplished so much.
Today I present to you, my final project.
I always believe in when you start something, you might as well come full circle. On the first assignment, our “selfie” assignment, I made reference to the fact I was an intern with the Coastal Plain League and the Savannah Bananas in the Summer of 2021. When deciding a topic for my final project, I knew it needed to relate to that as well. So I decided to talk about the craziness of the Savannah Bananas. My Medium story includes a KnightLab timeline, photos, a video, an audio interview, TikToks, as well as plenty of hyperlinks to reference things I could not attach to the story myself. I decided to highlight a brief history, the impacts of the team, what to expect at a game, interviews with staff members, some hall-of-famers, and of course future predictions.
I felt so accomplished not only putting all the pieces together, but even learning how to upload an audio file into Medium. It was awesome to see my timeline become apart of my final project as well. I had originally came up with other ideas in my project proposal, but decided to switch things up as new creativity began flowing while spending time on this project.
I am so proud of myself and us as a group for completing this class. As a Spring ‘22 graduate, I thank all of you for sharing your thoughts and ideas in my last ever college class. I have enjoyed this semester and you all more than ever!

Story Map - From a Yelp Elite Member
Hi y’all, we are talking food today and I all of a sudden feel like I am Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives!
I have made a map of all my favorite food in the country ranging from CA to AZ to TX to VA to GA! That was a lot... I am a picky eater but I think some of these places really get me out of my comfort zones.
If you’re ever traveling and need some food ideas, message me and I will give you all of the top rated Yelp restaurants.
I also really enjoyed making this STORY MAP, as I got so excited using this new tool! It was so fun to add the locations and see them all pop up on the map. I think this is a great tool that I would love to use in a non-school setting! When I do, I’ll make sure to send it to LJ so she can see my improvement in using Storymaps!

The Savannah Bananas Timeline
Hi y’all, it’s everyone’s favorite Bananas Enthusiast. I decided to do my timeline assignment on a brief history of the Bananas since I interned with the Coastal Plain League and covered the Bananas during the Summer of 2021. There is so much more in their history, but I think covering some of the main points such as this was the most helpful for everyone to learn about the team and their background.
I really enjoyed this timeline since I was able to add so many videos and pictures in this timeline (ones I took and ones I didn’t take)! I feel as if the championship TikTok I showed on Zoom really gives the best showcase of how great the summer was. That video gives me chills every time!
I hope this was a brief preview of why I feel so attached to the community the Bananas provides!

My imagination in storyboard form
My first storyboard features of course, an act of kindness. I wanted to depict my favorite act of kindness, which is when you pay for the people behind you in the drive through. It is such a good feeling not only to receive your order for “free” but also do a good deed and pay it forward by getting joy by treating someone else. I have had this happen a few times and I enjoy the kindness behind the purpose of it.
My second storyboard was something I decided to “animate” after finding a “fun fact of the day” about how Avocados are actually fruits, not vegetables, due to the fact that a pit is a seed. I thought this was a fun way to put a spin on a new fact that I also just learned.
I really enjoyed using StoryboardThat and getting to be creative in a new way today. I thought it was fun creating the cartoons and it is a fun spin on multimedia.

This isn’t ‘fake news,’ it’s just a fake bird.
Ever since I was a child, I have noticed these fake owls all around neighborhoods on peoples houses, roofs, and yards. I had a general understanding that they were created to deter birds and small animals, but do they really work? Why did they originate? I had so many questions.
For my medium assignment, I decided to dig up the reasonings behind these plastic yard decorations. I was pleased to get some answers to my questions and hopefully answer some of your questions as well. Have you guys ever noticed these things? I’ve definitely seen some around Tempe when I drive around the local neighborhoods!
For my illustration (a larger version of my refer image), I decided to add some fun photoshop filters to showcase the owl in a setting. I wanted it to be a little blurry and grainy to showcase the ‘unknown’ of the bird, as by the end of my story, you will know why they came to be!
I also thought that these filters made it seem like the image was less of a pretty photo, but more of an illustration you would see in a cartoon or in a book!
Shoutout to my grandma who you all got to meet on Zoom for letting me use her fake owl bird as a model for this assignment, as it sparked so many questions that I got to research!
