Some Mudrysi drone clothing/ceremonial stuff I was working on a couple months back before I changed up their designs ‘cause the stuff I’ve drawn before isn’t nearly big and over-the-top enough. Most of these would probably still hold up with some tweaking to adjust to the new body type I’m drawing them with

aaaaand then some redesign notes for pre-existing Dove Reki boys ft. some general notes on drone anatomy. I mostly wanted to pin down Arevik but I accidentally scratched out some good designs for some of the active drones too. Translating their old designs into this new shape is surprisingly tricky especially since a lot of my old drawings don’t have a whole lot of variation like they do now so I’m just kinda fumbling blindly trying to pin down their looks lmao

Arevik and Marek take some of the young’ins (Danika, Nadiy, Petriy) out to pick winterberries along with Valek and Jovanek because danger is never far and nobody lets the precious few members of their species able to reproduce run around out there on their own for too long

Happy Holidays!!!! I wanted to do more festive art but like 80% of my characters live in worlds where there is no Christmas or they just don’t celebrate it so this is the closest it was gonna get for any of my ten thousand Oddworld characters. I’ve wanted to do more pre-runaway Marek too because for all the faults that drove them away, they always did care deeply about their family and life wasn’t total abject misery for them

Looking at these now I think what I’m really doing here is reverting back to little anatomical differences that I scrubbed out by trying to draw mudokons “on-model” and winding up w/ some very samey-looking shit and it feels... very nice to know that these differences do actually align with the kind of differences that are present in canon now. I may or may not update existing ref sheets because while I love doing ref sheets they’re time-consuming and I have other shit to do lol. I’ll get to everyone eventually but these guys right now are the ones I have the strongest feelings about face shape for

Top to bottom, left to right: Zooz, Yeva, Chuck, Twitch, Marek, Arevik, Louie, and two unnamed newbies who probably live in the same camp as Louie, Skip and Hanz, and whose designs are yet to be finalized. I read the one (1) newspaper page that OWI were handing out yesterday as part of the ARG and my brain pretty much immediately spat out six new characters so that’s a real testament to how much good lore they managed to cram into that single page

It’s been too long since I drew any of the Dove Reki crew and my crops are dying. I haven’t drawn a mudokon in fucking ages either and I had The Itch so I sat down and finished this

Marek and Arevik probably used to spend any spare minute they had goofing off and going for rides out in the forest

That mudokon sheet I did the other day was super fun so I decided I actually did want to do one for Marek’s family and it ended up taking me... all day because oh my god there’s so many of them and I had to keep track of who was who

The village where they live is not far from the banks of a river and is called Dove Reki (”dove” pronounced like “doe” as in female deer) The thing encircling them in the top version is their village’s (and possibly others who follow the same branch of religion’s) patron deity, Perrun, typically depicted like here as an entity cloaked in (or made of) stormclouds and lightning bolts

I’m not even going to try to name all of them in order but I did conveniently write everyone’s names on the actual image this time so I can just dump the info about them all here

Neveniy, Radomir, Dalimil, Lazarik: the village’s active drones, he/him.The only two I’ve really developed are Radomir, who is Senka/Marek’s other parent, and Neveniy, who isn’t biologically related to Marek but is everyone’s favourite weird gay uncle

Nadira: the village’s queen, she/her. Very chatty and likes to know what’s going on at all times so she’s constantly having tea with various villagers. Quite literally almost everyone’s mom

Senka (Marek), Arevik, Petriy, Malik, Adaliy, Tarik, Nadiy, Danika: the young drones and queens of the village, they/them. Marek considers these guys to be their siblings and they share a communal living space a la student university halls except in big caves underground. Marek is the oldest of them and is therefore expected to take the most responsibility for taking care of the younger ones (which they actually don’t mind/do enjoy)

Bonus few workers (all they/them) who aren’t necessarily family but are still pretty big figures in Marek’s life: Kamek, the village’s shaman; Valek, one of the stable hands Marek is friends with; and Jovanek, an archer who helps the older kids sneak bows out of storage when they decide they want to run off into the forest and shoot at sticks and rocks for a while
