The Almost Impossible Flight
Imagine if you were a brilliant man of many tastes and high educational value. You explore the complexities of Mathematics, Modern Physics, and Mechanical Engineering. You dream of soaring off among the bird. You yourself cannot fly however neither can any other man because the human body does not have modified fore limbs. We do not have hallowed coracoid bones or tail feathers which are needed to land and navigate safely. But I did not say it was not an impossible flight. But if you were something other than a human being, perhaps a different kind of animal, some sort of alpine parrot maybe. What would your reality be like?
As a man can you accept the possibility that there are other unique realities beyond your comprehension? As a bird your mind would be too small to understand the complexities surrounding such idealistic wonders buried in the human mind which is much bigger. You would hunt insects for food, or some vegetation suitable for you to sustain your diet. You will be quite curious and a daring adventure. You like your many parrot companions would manipulate or destroy objects of little interest to you; such as a travelers back pack, the hood of jeep, or terrorizing the sheep angering the farmers. Your carelessness and recklessness is in your conscience as a parrot you don’t differentiate the subtle common morality. The tourists will even condemn you to death just to be rid of your pestilence.
In the spring time you will sing for a mate, and gather straw for a nest to shelter your young. Your life would be quite different and affected by the influences of the human society. Some will hunt your for sport, or for the purpose of keeping their profits such as; vegetation, farm animals, or importantly sheep’s fur from being ravaged by your innocent curious nature. You are often infatuated with moments that you would not expect from any other bird. You are hilarious. You do somersaults, play some tug-o-war and do a great deal of humorous tricks for your human audience.
A clever man would approach this from carefully thinking, drawing up diagrams and schematics to develop wings reminiscent to that of the legendary phoenix. That man would also fail countless times and fall into the river when he would attempt to fly over it but a safe choice by a brilliant man. It is quite clear that a man is not a bird and cannot fly on his own. But men have been known to invent ways to cheat obstacles that are unheard of until they build it with practical thinking. You could build yourself a hang glider or develop a crude gliding apparatus using rear and light weighted metals to construct a facsimile of the wing structure of that of a phoenix or maybe an eagle. Don’t forget in order to be a bird your bones cannot be heavy unlike the human skeleton which in fact is. Don’t get me wrong birds are warm-blooded vertebrates just like human beings but you are not entirely the same. A man has to build a tool to accomplish this impossible evolutionary development.
I deduced that man cannot fly and he is not a bird or not quite like a bird. A bird would perceive the world differently where a man perceives it through the will of his wondrous mind. If I tried to talk to the bird properly it would not try or attempt to understand because it cannot. But a man would answer me. A man must turn to a means outside his limitations in order to achieve the impossible flight. He would construct his crude gliding apparatus or develop a tacky hang glider. But a bird can achieve the flight much more easily than a mere human being.
