En Colombia, los pueblos indígenas con asentamientos en la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta exigieron al Gobierno Nacional que tome medida frente a la minería en el macizo, advirtiendo un grave daño ambiental y afectación a las fuentes hídricas. El cabildo gobernador kankuamo, Jaime Arias, señaló que “aquí nacen 36 ríos, están los glaciares que regulan la temperatura y el agua de la región Caribe; el llamado que hacemos a la sociedad y al Gobierno es que nos ayuden a la protección de este territorio sagrado que hoy está en riesgo”. I wanted to go down to South America && provide a song from a Colombian indigenous group known as the Arhuaco. They are a very spiritual group, according to Wikipedia. On the ticindigena blog, they writer describes the Dance of the Chicote, which is a dance that portrays a cosmological creation story of sorts. Enjoy!
