This-- This was a first.

Strangers coming into her forest was something that The Unicorn had grown used to, yes. But the strangers had always been... human, or something close to human.

She was... She resembled one, but she wasn’t human. The scent of metal filled the air around her, and a curious aura of electricity seemed to be wrapped along her skin. It was unlike anything The Unicorn had ever seen or experienced and that was truly saying something.

“What... are you?” There was nothing but curiosity in her tone as the mare lightly stepped around her, head lowered ever-so-slightly as she leaned in to give her a slight sniff.

A calm breeze disturbed the resting sands, ever shifting the vast desert landscape. Gerudo territory wasn’t technically in Hyrule’s jurisdiction, but the young swordsman was on a mission. He settled down in a rare shady spot embedded into the wall of a canyon which could have marked some remnants of an ancient temple. Secluded, but still close enough to the outpost settlement circling an oasis.

The boy sat cross legged in between some fallen pillars, his head resting on his knuckles, and his other hand holding what resembled a shepherd’s a crook. In front of him, most curiously, was an old book, long forgotten in the back shelves of Hyrule’s library. The very thing that brought him out in the middle of a scorching desert.

Link stood after examining the pages thoroughly for what felt like the hundredth time. This time he was sure to get it right. He held out the cane in front of him and aimed at the desert sands. Focus. 

One swing. Nothing. Another, yielding the same result. Frustrated, the boy began swinging it around wildly like a sword. This only resulted in launching the book with an unseen force several yards into the burning sunlight.

At last he gave up, falling to his knees in defeat and then crumbling over to melodramatically face-plant in the sand. Maybe he should just go home.
