🌌 Background / Lore
Ariane was born in Mondstadt and lived there until she was 12 years old, however, when her parents divorced, she moved to Fontaine with her mother, which was her mother's homeland, and only returned to Mondstadt two months ago.
Her mother died when she was 19, but instead of returning to Mondstadt and living with her father, she continued to live in Fontaine.
Her father passed away four months ago, and since she was his only heir, she had little choice but to return to take care of the tavern he left behind.
To be honest, she was planning on just selling the tavern out and staying in Fontaine. But after she read the letter her father left for her, she changed her mind and decided to run this bar herself.
Which ultimately turned out to be a good decision, because in just two months she was able to get the people of Mondstadt back to frequenting Northwind rather quickly.
This was all because of the unique drinks she made, drinks that only she knew how to make, which for her was a bit ironic since she was never a big fan of alcohol and usually only drank socially.
She hired few staff to help at the tavern, but does most of the work herself anyway.
Now about her house, well, Ariane's father built a house right above the tavern before he died, where the entrance to the house was at the back of the outside of the tavern which had a staircase leading up to the door. Which was quite convenient for her, as she didn't had much trouble going back and forth from home to work and vice versa.
💠 Personality
Ariane is determined, strict, and has a hot-headed nature.
She has a firm grip on the management of her tavern but remains polite (yet blunt) when dealing with customers.
Despite her nonchalant demeanor, she is confident, straightforward, and a good listener.
Ariane is independent and a little bit of a workaholic, but she surprises many with her friendly and sociable nature when she opens up.
She is a skilled bartender and has a talent for creating new and innovative drinks.
Ariane's hot-headed nature can sometimes lead to conflicts with others.
She struggles to show vulnerability and can be overly independent at times, which usually prevent her from seeking help when she needs it.
Ariane's blunt and straightforward approach sometimes come across as harsh or insensitive to others.
She values hard work, honesty, and loyalty.
She believes in earning respect through actions rather than words and is skeptical of those who try to charm their way through life.
❤️ Relationships
Vincent Löwenherz (trusted patron)
She respects Vincent greatly, though she'd never admit it too openly. In her eyes, Vincent is the kind of man who carries responsibility like armor, composed, disciplined, and impossible to catch off guard. His noble upbringing occasionally irritates her, especially when his formality feels excessive, but she trusts the quality of his work and appreciates that he never treats her dismissively despite her age (even though he's only a year older) or lack of noble status. Their conversations are usually calm, practical, and centered around business, though Ariane has noticed he seems more observant than he lets on. She considers him reliable, if somewhat difficult to read. The two share a mutual understanding built on standards, hard work, and an unwillingness to tolerate incompetence.
Venti Windfeld (annoying customer)
Ariane genuinely cannot decide whether Venti is charming or profoundly annoying. Most days, she settles on both. He appears at the tavern unpredictably, usually with little Mora and far too much confidence, lounging around like he personally owns one of the tables. Ariane has long since learned not to expect normal behavior from him. Despite her constant complaints and visible exasperation whenever he walks through the door, she rarely turns him away outright. She insists it's because causing a scene would disturb the customers. Still, his presence brings life to the tavern, and his music has a way of softening the atmosphere during quieter nights. She'd never call him dependable. But somehow, she has begun expecting him to show up anyway.
Lysander Ruschel (acquaintance)
Lysander is simultaneously one of Ariane's favorite customers and one of her greatest headaches. As a sommelier, his opinion carries enough weight that she tolerates far more from him than she does from most patrons. His critiques are brutally honest, painfully specific, and annoyingly accurate. Ariane respects his palate immensely, even when his commentary sounds more like drunken poetry than useful feedback. Though she often threatens to throw him out whenever he starts getting too comfortable, she almost never follows through. She finds his constant flirting exhausting, mostly because she can never tell how serious he actually is. Still, Lysander has an infuriating talent for slipping past her defenses with casual conversation and easy humor. Unlike many people in Mondstadt, he doesn't seem bothered by her bluntness or temper. If anything, he appears amused by it.
🎨 Visuals
Ariane has brown wavy hair that reaches her chest, she ties some of her hair in an back-braid to keep hair out of her face but lets the rest loose. She has brown eyes and fair skin. She is 174 tall.
She wears a soft, slate-blue blouse with a wide, gently draping neckline that slips just off her shoulders, revealing the straps of a crisscross harness beneath. The sleeves fall to mid-upper-arm in loose, fluttery tiers.. The blouse itself is deliberately uneven, longer in back and dipping into a small point at front. Peeking out from under the blouse is a delicate lattice of brown straps that cross over her collarbone and upper chest. At her waist she wears two leather belts, one snug and narrow, the other wider and slightly draped, both in warm brown tones. Underneath she wears semi-sheer taupe leggings. Three leather garter straps wrap around her left thigh. Slim, brown leather gloves cover her palms and backs of her hands, ending just before the first knuckle. Her boots are soft, matte‐leather in a muted charcoal. They come up to mid-calf with a slight fold at the top, and tiny brass studs line the fold, the heel is low but sturdy.

🧩 Thought Process
I can't remember my process when making her. I know Diluc was a bit of a inspiration, and that I want to make a begrudging bartender dynamic with Venti, but nothing else after that as I lost all the files of her (and lots of my other ocs) development when my old phone died :/
🌟 Ending
My first and only NPC oc so far, yay! 😂 I mean, I do have other NPC ocs, but they're not "fleshed out," just names mentioned in lore.
If she were to have a Vision, I think it'd either be Electro, Geo, or Pyro. But I don't plan on ever giving her one so it'll remain just a "what if" thought.
Btw, Venti's surname is a hc of mine.
Ocs related to Ariane: Vincent, Lysander.
