*Whispers* Socrates was Plato's student, who followed him around and wrote down everything he said and did. Plato wrote nothing down, just went around questioning everything and being a general philosophical ass to everybody and anybody. (But mostly to important people, which got him killed as their children he was The Greatest Thing Ever) Plato might not have even been his real name, instead it was probably a nickname. Regardless Plato is the teacher, and Socrates the student who survived him.
