Hello Tumblr, I have put together a quick image tutorial for how to set up the best inventory add-on ever, Arkinventory.
When you first load Arkinventory, this is what it will look like - one giant bag with all your stuff jumbled in a pile. This isn't what we want! Let's start customizing.
This is what the Edit Mode looks like, entered by clicking on the cogwheel icon in the top right corner. Each of these numbers represents a virtual bag. Right click on these virtual bags to assign categories.
The first category I'm going to assign to this bag is System>Equippable Items (Soulbound), so that all my soulbound gear is filtered into this bag. However, it would be really nice to be able to separate my PvP gear and PvE gear in my bags, so I'm going to set up a custom filter.
Open up your Interface screen, click on the AddOns tab, click on Arkinventory and click Config. Go down to the Categories section. As you can see, I've created several custom categories for easier organization.
Now I can assign the Custom>PvE Gear category to my PvE gear and sort it into the correct bag.
Now I've put my PvE gear in bag 2, my PvP gear in bag 3 (I'm wearing most of it which is why that trinket is the only thing there), cloth and bandages in bag 4. Bag 5 is my catch-all professions bag. I assign Trade Goods>Herb, Leather, Materials, Metal & Stone, Other and Parts. I also assign Skill>Leatherworking, Mining, Herbalism, Blacksmithing, Engineering, Skinning. To make sure I have the empty slots for my herb, mining and skinning bags in the right place, I also assign Empty>Herbalism, Leatherworking, Mining. My gems, inscription scrolls and enchanting materials are in separate bags as I don't like them mixed in with crafting materials.
Continuing to assign categories: Bag 6 is System>Junk, Bag 7 is gems and everything relating to Jewelcrafting, Bag 8 is glyphs, scrolls, enchantments and enchanting mats. I've moved Soulbound and Account Bound gear to Bag 9 in order to separate random dungeon drops from my gear sets. Bag 10 is BoE gear. Bag 11 is System>Quest, Bag 12 contains all food, drink, potions, elixirs, etc. Bag 13 is cooking mats and recipies.
Bag 14 contains pets and mounts. Bag 15 is a custom rule for Tabards. Bag 16 contains Trade Goods>Elemental, which is where volatiles and motes get sorted. Bag 17 is Archeology stuff. Now I'm done assigning categories, and I can exit edit mode and take a look at how amazing my bags look now.
That's so beautiful it almost brings a tear to my eye. Once categories are set up, every new item you pick up will be automatically sorted into the correct category with the exception of custom categories. For those, you have to right-click on the item and manually assign it to the correct category.
And that's Arkinventory, folks! I should be doing a couple of TradeSkillMaster photo tutorials in the coming week, so stay tuned :)
