Book reviews. Thoughts on Cart and Cwidder, and The Name of the Wind:
I read Diana Wynne Jones’ book Cart and Cwidder, and while it was well written, I really prefer her other books. Cart and Cwidder was...difficult to get into. If you like it, then that’s okay! I love Diana Wynne Jones’ other books, but I’m not a fan of Cart and Cwidder.
I just found it hard to read, as the characters kept excusing their mother’s controlling their lives. The characters were also rude to each other without apologising until page eighty. Page eighty is where the story becomes more exciting and the characters are more likeable.
Out of the books I’ve read about traveling musicians, I’d have to say I vastly prefer The Name of the Wind. Kvothe’s father’s troupe of performers is much nicer and they’re a bunch of people I’d love to spend time with anytime. The troupe in Cart and Cwidder...well, I think I’d avoid them and their arguments as much as possible!
