I like…. Commander Cody…. He’s my fav……
I love the command batch so much, nothing anyone can do can sway me to believe that Fox, Wolffe, Kote, Ponds, and Bly weren't a batch and they adopted Rex along the way. Dave Filoni himself couldn't pry it away from me.
But I do love angst. I love Kamino angst specifically, and oh did my brain start doing things when I realized that Ponds is canonically NOT a CC. Canonically his number is CT-411, and only in legends is he CC-6454. Kamino is a horrible, horrible place, where so much can go wrong, so much can happen. Maybe CC-6454 died and CT-411 has to replace him. Maybe CT-411 got quietly promoted to a CC after the rest of his batch was . . . decommissioned but he showed too much promise to go away that easily. Maybe he got mixed up one day and refused to let go of the better life he was handed, and it might have gotten the original CC-6454 killed when everyone else thought he was lying about an imposter.
So many possibilities . . .

I'm ngl I get so much cognitive dissonance in "Cody-as-Kote" fics when Cody reveals what his name originally was, is asked if he wants to go by that, AGREES, and then the author still uses Cody when narrating. I think it's so interesting to shift the use of the name depending on the third person limited perspective or who Cody is interacting with, such as being referred to as Kote when with the clones or being observed by one, versus referring to himself as Cody around natborns or when seen pov. But I think that once the name is known and marked as preferred, the narration should shift to match that.

The whole "living in the backwoods as Kote" is not, in fact, an attempt to get away from old enemies or avoid current power struggles as Kvothe claims. Rather, it is an attempt to avoid paternity suits/child support/taking responsibilty for the multiple children he fathered with Vashet, Penthe, Felurian, and every other random woman he slept with after his time in the Fae realm.
It turns out that the plant he was chewing to make himself infertile did not actually work.
On the bright side, due to how different he appears form the Adem, and his....unique personality, the Adem now believe in the concept of 'Man-Mothers'.
still workshopping some of these a bit, but here's the current mando'a name chart for the CCs (plus rex!)
the kkc frame story is for the former gifted kids who grew up to be average and burned out
