Քրիստոս յարեաւ ի մեռելո՜ց։ Օրհնեալ է յարութիւնը Քրիստոսի՜։
due to it being easter today, i would like to tell you about a traditional armenian game we play during this time: հաւկթախաղ (lit. egg-game).
usually played one-on-one, it involves taking turns hitting the ends of hard-boiled eggs together. whoever cracks both sides loses! they are usually coloured red with some onion vinegar thing. idk.
այսօր, 28 Մայիսի, կը նշենք (Առաջին) Հայաստանի Հանրապետութեան յարիւր-ութերորդ ամեակը։
today, on may 28, we celebrate the 108th anniversary of the short-lived First Republic of Armenia.
one of my favourite armenian songs is Արի̀ Իմ Սոխակ.
it's about a mom who's lulling her crying son to sleep; she calls on a variety of singing birds, but it's only the hawk that accomplishes it, with the son, quote, "falling asleep to the song of war." really gives you an insight into the state of the armenian people at the time, huh?

the ligature և is functionally very similar to "&".
և -> ե + ւ
& -> e + t (latin et)
both of them mean and.
"Խաչիկը և Մօրան։" -> Khatchig and Mora.
but! in armenian, you can replace it with և in any word. this is like writing "sandy" as "s&y".
արեւ (sun) -> արև
Երեւան (Yerevan) -> Երևան
this ligature is very common among eastern armenians. western armenians, however, will set you on fire if you use it.
interestingly, in most varieties of spoken armenian, the definite suffix -ը/-ն is added to proper nouns in every case. from what i can see, though, it doesn't apply to when you're going to someplace.
Երեվանէն մինչեւ Գիւմրի գացինք։
We went from [the] Yerevan all the way to Gyumri.
Սեւակը Զուարթնոց պիտի երթայ։
[The] Sevag will go to Zvartnots.
Մօրային զարկի։
I hit [the] Mora.
i don't really know the specific rules for this because everyone does it differently but i still think it's cool
