This is a screenshot of the Fallout season 2 trailer. Potential spoilers below.
I might be super late to the game but is that... is that Goris? My albino bestie? MY BOY???
I don't want to spoil too much if people are unfamiliar with the older fallout games but... No way right? I know people have speculated about a super mutant like Marcus, but I played Fallout 2 when I was a kid - and modded him into New Vegas because 🫠- and the thought just suddenly popped into my brain! Something about the mysterious robe and that deep ass sexy voice gave me flashbacks.
If that's the case I would lose my fucking mind holy shit GORIS??? MY WASTELAND NERD?
Oh I want him to meet Lucy and they become besties [New companion acquired]. That would be so freaking cool, they would get on like a sophisticated house on fire. He knows so much he could tell her so much that maybe even Cooper doesn't know.
Or anyone! Max would be so confused lmao, Thad would freak the fuck out before asking him a bunch of random questions. If he met Norm? Pfff oh he would love Norm, this tiny ass vaultie. Him and the ghoul would eventually wax classical literature together, talk history (with Lucy) how unkind smoothies can be and talk smack about having to save their respective vaulties ass.
I am a ghoulcy shipper so DNI or read further if you disagree with that or want to be rude please. I do not care. I've probably already blocked you, and if I haven't I will. If you're respectful and want to have fun, go right ahead. So anyways...
Is it bad that I wish they'd had a romance system in 2 specifically for him and Marcus? That was a rhetorical question don't answer that. Yes I'm a monster fucker what about it? Hello my fellows.
Anyway I think the Ghoul and Goris would have a really thought provoking conversation about the state of the world and what the wasteland has turned them into. What the world made them Vs what they want to be, and what/who are really important in the grand scheme of things.
Reflecting Max's arc "I don't want to do the things I do they just keep happening." And him saving abominations because he recognises their humanity. Goris being someone who wants to study civilisation so he can "find a cure" and save humanity from their self destructive tendencies. How Max may be the key to restarting civilisation - the cold fusion yes (via Moldavers plan), but also uniting factions instead of diving them (the place I think his character is heading towards, to mirror the kind leader his father was). The resonance of his fathers words "as long as we leave it a little bit better than we found it."
Goris is also a juxtaposition of what Lucy is becoming. She's a sweet "innocent" (👀 freak in the sheets) vaultie who's becoming a little killer/a creature of the wasteland. Vs a "monster" who was also tied to the vaults - yes Goris is a vaultie technically - who dedicated himself to being a scholar who rejects violence unless absolutely necessary despite his intended "nature".
It would definitely flip any of Lucy or the Ghouls preconceptions on their head, especially Coopers if they've never met already (poor guy has PTSD, Goris just like Lucy would both trigger him and make him grow).
But as well Lucy's notions about "abominations" in the wasteland would again be challenged. He's a reflection of how she sees Cooper, and that sometimes a perceived "monster" can be more than meets the eye. A demon, a devil, but also a doll? Wink wink. They can even be someone you care about. Vault-Tec, the US government (via the Enclave), Robert House etc., of the past are the real monsters who just made the friends we made along the way.
Also... Goris is very very perceptive (like Lucy) and curious (also like Lucy). Trailers are edited to be misleading. Everyone I've seen keeps stating the deep voice in the trailer being paired with Coopers lines like its definitely Cooper talking to them (Goris) in this particular scene but I'm not so sure.
"Well then you're going to need friends. There's a war coming."
- mysterious deep sexy voice from Fallout season 2 trailer (Goris?). I definitely think he's either talking to Cooper or maybe even Max here? But it's not tied directly to the scene from the trailer below.
I actually think this scene with Coop with the blood on his mouth is in episode 5 The Wrangler after he gets injured from one of those deathclaws, and he's opening up to Lucy here (I may be wrong we shall see). But LOOK at that visual symbolism!!! Holy shit the half skull shadowed face. His eye socket black, like he's already dead "if something's dead it's probably because it deserved to die." Vs the light on the other side and Cooper Howards soft human eye looking contemplative and in pain. Whatever this scene is, it's a turning point, where a part of the ghoul metaphorically dies and Cooper rises back towards the light (cough Lucy cough) even just for a moment. Him being torn between the ruthless death of the ghoul and the morality of Cooper Howard. The good man. It's beautiful soul wrenching art and it hurts me. I can't wait. Also foreshadowing for his priorities changing. The only reason he's alive being to find his family, but slowly this stubborn dipshit vaulti who may or may not be growing on him - like a sexy fungus - gives him something new to care about and fight for. Her becoming his other reason.
Buttt...
If he - potentially Goris - was talking to Cooper - maybe saved him from something and healed him? This being after he's lost Lucy to Hank? Well I could see him being the one to see right through Coopers bullshit about losing Lucy or trading her for info on his family.
Goris would be like "dude you've been looking for your family for +200 years, but she's in danger right now. Your vaulties in danger, and probably your best chance of finding them. Get your ghoul shit together and go save her." Goris would say it more eloquently but you get the point. [Quest unlocked; save the princess from the evil wizard in the tower - even though she's actually going to save herself first 😉 and in a very beautiful - Belle looking - dress, badass].
He could also be the connecting bridge between Max and Coop. Maybe Goris found Maximus and Thaddeus and gained info about the current state of the wasteland? How the brotherhood are at war. Or he noted them on his travels.
Then later when Coop is trying to figure out a way to get back into the Strip to save Lucy and find his family, him and Goris cross paths. Coop tells him he needs to go back in and try to get to Lucy, and Goris points him in the directions of some "friends" who could help. That's what leads Cooper to Max and Thad. Ala the ensuing scene of Coop finding Max and them going full on magnificent 7 to get her back.
Cooper is trying to save Lucy, and he confides in Goris for help?? I would lose 👏 my 👏 mind 👏. Ugh there's so many ways this season could go it's hurting my brain but this would be a sick ass twist.
I don't think they will, but if they had Goris participate in the final battle as a new "game companion" and we have the iconic "de-robing" that would be the fucking coolest shit ever. And that's when Goris (alongside Coop) meets Lucy? OKIE DOKEY dies.
This is all heavy speculation, and I have no doubt I am probably very wrong. Thats probably not even Goris - cowards if it's not - but I am having a lot of fun thinking about it and how he could play into their stories and speak to the themes of Max, Lucy and Cooper in a very significant way. Goris being the one to make Cooper realise he really does care about her and to do the right thing. That after 200 years it's ok to find something worth fighting for again. And it's ok to not want to be alone anymore.
"I don't want to go it alone, if you know what I mean."
- Goris dialogue from the Fallout Bible.
"I wasn't going to stay if that's what you were worried about."
Lucy to Cooper in Season 2 episode 4 - The demon in the Snow.
Cooper "I can take care of myself" Howard actually enjoying Lucy's companionship as his partner, and at his core not wanting to be alone.
Also Coopers code name as a Marine being "White horse" in a scene that featured a black abomination compared with Goris (the grey albino)? Are they being intentionally mirrored? Might be reaching there but I have made notes. I also have some theories about Lucy and the "experiment" of 32 and 33, FEV and phase 2. How Goris, Cooper and Lucy may be more similar than we could've possibly imagined and theories for Lucy's journey. But imma keep that to myself for now.
Also Goris would ship ghoulcy I don't make the rules.
