ArmMeWith
the feeling of safety at my school for the first time since 2017
Y'all, the #armmewith tag that has started up is so wonderful please look it up
I am a student, #armmewith actual time to learn curriculum relevant to the class I'm taking. #armmewith time to learn instead of valuable time devoted to irrelevant test prep. #armmewith more recess and free time in the day to release my tensions and relax. #armmewith qualified teachers and councilors. #armmewith better school lunches. #armmewith later times for starting school so I can be focused in the morning instead of tired. #armmewith less homework so I can actually have time outside of school to do other things and relax.
Preach!! Truth 🙌🏻🙌🏻
#Repost @megscrayons ・・・ I love my job, I love my students more than they will ever know. Teaching is my passion...it is what I have wanted to do since I was10. There are many who truly don’t understand the world of teaching and that has become very clear in the last few days. When you ask me to carry a gun you are asking much more of me than you know. By arming teachers you are asking us to: - become the person I am suppose to protect my students from - potentially shoot a student that once sat in my classroom - make sure my gun stays out of the reach of the students in my classroom daily - shoot someone in front of my students, while calmly telling them “i will keep you safe” irony? (is this how we want the future to handle things?) Also, let’s not forget the funding, liability and the following questions you haven’t thought about... Which teachers get guns? Where will the guns be stored? Who decides when guns can be brandished? What penalties will apply if teachers mishandle a weapon? Will teachers volunteer for gun duty? Can teachers refuse it? Will teachers with a history of mental illness be allowed to use weapons? Will teachers be required to disclose any history of mental illness? Will teachers be issued a weapon? Reimbursed for purchase? For ammunition? How will administrators conduct non-weapon-related discipline against a teacher? Will there be armed assistance available to deter workplace shootings? Who will shepherd the armed teacher’s classroom while the teacher is attempting to locate the active shooter? What happens when a teacher misidentifies a student as a threat in good faith? Will teachers who do not carry lethal weapons be offered non lethal alternatives? If an armed teacher is shot, can another teacher employ his or her weapon? Will armed teachers be required to attempt an arrest before using lethal force? Under what circumstances?...THERE IS NO AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT WILL MAKE IT OKAY TO ARM A TEACHER! The day you put a gun in my hand is the day you kill my passion. #notmypresident #parkland #armmewith #teachersagainstgunviolence
You’re missing the point. We don’t want to take away your gun rights, we just want to prevent Americans from owning assault weapons and to tighten the methods at which a person can purchase a firearm. Sorry, @NRA, the children are winning. Thoughts and prayers.
Please pray for her amazing student Anthony Borges! He is a hero who was shot 5 times last week & has a long recovering ahead🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏿🙏🏼🙏🙏🏽
Will you #StandWithTheKids? #NeverAgain
