This is a somewhat unusual object. It’s a cot from the Civil War that folds up neatly into a trunk when not in use. The wood supports would hold mosquito netting above the sleeping officer.

I'm trying to decide between a twin mattress on the floor or a regulation army cot.  I can't decide which is more comfortable, but putting the mattress on top of the cot doesn't work.
