Honestly I feel the same way about as you about Hawks and romance. I mean if you twisted my arm and say I HAD to pick a ship then maybe Hawks/Rumi but personally I really think what Hawks needs most of all is friends that'll have his back that he can trust. People that platonically care for him as a person and not for how he's useful to them. It's probably such a foreign concept to him given his childhood (part of why I was hoping the wing loss would be permenent so he would see who actually cares for him) but I can imagine a conversation between him and Tokoyami being like "Wait... you like me? For my personality!?" With Tokoyami nodding "Strange but true"

hawks is my little platonic fave <3 he hasn’t shown any romantic interest in canon so that makes him automatically aroace to me 😚 can’t help it

agree, i just want him to have close friends! i’m happy the wings are growing back but it’s cool to have a period without them where he’s still proven to be capable and strong. if anything this period without his wings is where he’s making the most genuine connections. i cant wait for them to come back though and show how far he’s come <3

ahahah “you like me for my personality?” so true though because let’s be real hawks can be entirely insufferable <3 he’s a weird balance of kind, good and selfless and also a nuisance on purpose. he’s spent years being pushy and arrogant and in total defiance of social norms so by at this point he’s used to people disliking him, but surprise surprise some can see past that and realise how good he is!! but he’s still annoying. good, but annoying

So..this might sound a bit weird, but your aroace Hawks hc kinda smacked some sense into me. Before that, I never really felt like it was ok to hc characters as aroace despite being aroace myself, for some reason I necer felt it fit and that there were better ideas. Which is some bullshit, it's a personal hc, who does it hurt?? Now I'm more comfortable with it, same with making aro/ace/aroace characters of my own. Just wanted to thank you for that, so...thank you! :D
