dan hi hello do you like the new marina and the diamonds album? i love love love it (saw your post lol) "im a ruin" and "savages" are my favorite
YES, I love the album. I just really like her in general. Not many people could be so personal and dark while also churning out bubbly dance-y pop hits.
I like “Blue” and “Weeds” a lot, though basically anything aside from “Can’t Pin Me Down” and “Better Than That” is amazing.
aroacegems replied to your post:Book (series) reccomendation
that sounds awesome, thanks for the rec!!
Dude yes good they're all hella bomb I love them and they like came out in the 90's though apparently the final book came out in 85 or whatever the fuck says Wikipedia??????????? I think I'm going to regularly do book reviews/recommendations of my favorite books or series honestly because it's a great way to fuck with the plot descriptions and make people laugh while also snagging their interest. Next on my list is Spindle's End, Ironskin, Time Cat, Wicked (not the Wizard of Oz shit), East, The Blue Sword, Graceling/Fire (I just ordered Bitterblue because fuck everything I haven't read it yet), Deerskin, Rose Daughter, The Princess and the Hound, The Young Wizards series, The Little White Horse, and Beast. I would do Redwall but I think it's a fairly well-known series and plus I'd fuck everything up because there's so god damn many of them.
and they made ursula and the queen of hearts skinny like wtf ://// like they can be beautiful and fat ugh
Thank you^^^
Operating on the assumption that they're all inherently hideous for being fat. Blehhh. You can notice in the original designs the villains are diverse in body type, with Shan Yu being bulky (both fat and muscular) and them portraying him as slim-muscular, as well as Hades being a lot less soft looking (chin/neck fat and languid looking arms) and instead being that same shade of muscular/lithe but with a slouch that makes it harder to notice.
We've also got Facilier with a significantly narrowed nose and lips as well as Jafar having a much less pronounced nose, being lighter skinned.
We also have the [de]feminization of the male character's features [Disney's got a history with queer-coding villainous characters which itself is annoying tbh] with all of them getting muscular [but hairless! can't be too swarthy because white beauty standards] chests, and the makeup-suggesting eyelid and lip colours of the guys being de-emphasized.
Annnd we have the female characters getting either more make-up in the case of the Queen of Hearts or less, in the case of Ursula- which seems contradictory until you remember her original design was based off of the look of famous, now deceased drag performer Divine and it's more of an attempt to evoke the natural/feminine/youthful etc.
That's why I call it 'streamlining' cause it's basically tapering everyone to fit the same basic mould, where the only differences end up being colours and motifs. The guys bulk up or slim down, the women become hourglasses. Everyone performs masculine or feminine appropriately. And everything looks a few shades lighter.
