Xak: The Tower of Gazzell
Hi Tumblr!
Long time no see, right?
I really need to try and be active here XD
I need to grow my platforms now that I'm slowly drifting away from Twitter.
Anyways, here's some art I did for ARPGs on dA, might as well share those here too.
This is pretty fun…
Sometimes playing Soul Blazer is very really fun. Other times there's a bossfight. They're almost never good. This final bossfight in the airship was terrible. Used invincibility cheats because there's no way I'm doing it without it.
Still managed to get the achievement on hardcore mode because it only gives me the achievement once I talk to the king, and there's plenty of time to save between it and the battle.
I can do most bossfights without cheats. That one bossfight in GreenWood was very hard back then, but I could still do it if I tried hard enough. This one though is absurd.
About the bossfights in Soul Blazer: They're ok. It's nice to have a big climatic finisher to a stage. Wouldn't be as satisfying to just play through the levels like normal without bossfights, so they're welcome in some way. This game just doesn't have very good bossfights. They're just trial and error until you figure out the cheese strat to beat them. Except for the first bossfight, which required to master the controls and movement, the second bossfight, which is a trial on improvisation, and the fifth bossfight, where it was easy to beat on the first try.
Soul Blazer would be a great game to have on mute while listening to something else, were the sounds not so important to it. It doesn't feel as good without them. The soundtrack is also so good…!
Wow, Soul Blazer goes by much more quickly that I remembered! That, or Zone 4 is just especially tiny.
