Ever feel like, you know you need to write, you want to write, and you have a ton of stories in your head to write with, but the moment that you sit down to write you’re too exhausted from real life things and the space you normally feel you can write in is too cluttered due to all the work you have to do else where. And then, when you have that place clean, it’s too late and you’re tired from cleaning your place and the next day you have other things to do so you have to put off your writing till you have time? 

Yeah right now it feels like that for me, and I can’t escape that cycle. Urgh!

Software woes.

Hi everyone!

A little update since the last time.

The short of it that I have a new computer but now need to buy new art software.

More after the cut...

I got my new computer (woohoo!) and am slowly getting into learning the new operating system.

I also had to add Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C  and USB 3 to my vocabulary.

Why?

Because my Cintiq predates this technology. >.<

Had to do research, buy an adapter, try to connect it, and eventually had to download a new driver instead of use the old one - which I couldn’t  (more on this later).

After crossing every finger I had, I finally got it working with the new system.

Huzzah!

Now for the additional kicker of getting a new iMac.

No DVDRW drive (told you I would get back to this) and apparently High Sierra is the death knell for any older art programs. More revelations from my online research.

So yeah. Even if I connected a DVDRW drive to the new system and manually loaded the old art software in I would get errors and crashes that can’t be predicted or avoided.

Why?

Didn’t the programmers of the OS and art programs make patches or implement fixes?

Apparently it was not worth the efforts after High Sierra borked a whole load of applets and libraries and Apple just flipped developers a big middle finger wrapped in cash.

Manga Studio (now Clip Studio) predictably went to the next incarnation of their software and Adobe implemented a subscription-based PS deal.

I am now trying to decide if I should invest in a new Photoshop subscription, bite the bullet and buy a copy of the newest version of Clip Studio, or consider maybe experimenting with a new art program.

It is so frustrating.

I basically have a shiny new car with a high-performance engine and the only place I can drive it is a roundabout with no exit.
