Arrogate (2016 Travers Stakes)
Arrogate
“Arrogate's NEON ICON will break from the outside in the Alabama Stakes (G1) at Saratoga on Saturday.
Neon Icon started her career with impressive wins in a Maiden Special Weight at Keeneland and an Allowance at Churchill Downs. She was 5th when she stepped up in class for the Indiana Oaks (G3), but there is hope that she will return to her earlier form in this next challenge. 💛”

We lost such a good one...Heartbreaking. Rest in peace, Arrogate. You’ll be so, so missed.
See ya later, arrogator
Real quick Word of the Day today, mostly because it’s not my own work. I stole it from the “Haggard Hawks” Twitter feed (which you should check out if you use that platform). The Word of the Day is “arrogate.” It comes from Latin and it means “to take or claim something without justification.” A person who does that is an “arrogator.” You can draw your own conclusion about why I chose that word, or who it might refer to.
Oh, and if you think “arrogate” sounds like it’s related to “arrogant,” you’re absolutely right. Both words have the same Latin root meaning “to claim for oneself.”
“Arrogant” – “having an exaggerated sense of one’s importance or abilities.” Again, draw your own conclusion.
Rest in peace Arrogate :(
