I think part of the reason that Arrow 100 worked so well being a crossover is that it both allowed them to bring back Sara and Ray (who were both major characters in one season of the show) as well as letting them use a sci-fi ish way that wouldn't usually fit in Arrow to bring back other characters like Oliver's parents. The Flash 100, having neither lost major characters the same way and not needing an excuse for sci-fi dead people cameos, might not benefit as much from being a crossover ep.
That’s an excellent point I hadn’t considered. Now I’m a little more nervous about The Flash’s 100th episode.
