“What do you mean, indefinite?” Natasha blurted, not normally one to question a mission.

“That's what Coulson said, stationed until further notice.”

“And you can't tell me where?”

Clint shook his head, face impassive.

“When do you leave?”

“Twenty-four hours.”

The air in the room became thick, making it difficult to breathe.

“We're being punished. They're separating us without officially separating us.”

“I know.”

“It's not fair.” She began to pace, refusing to accept the future now lying before them.

“I know.” His eyes followed her back and forth.

“I'm going to talk to Fury.”

“Nat.”

“We are their best team! How dare they do this.”

“I said that.”

Natasha stopped.

“What did they say?”

“That I've been compromised, and it was best if I worked alone for a while. We both should.”
