Hot take. I think Hermione is a Taurus not a Virgo. I know she has a September birthday in the books but her personality fits Taurus more.
Taurus is the rule-follower of the zodiac, they do it because they follow what’s tried and true to ensure their safety, so in Hermione’s case, ensuring her place at Hogwarts is secure. And she gets all her information from books because that’s the safest, most tried and true way to get them. Virgos are more experimental, being Mercury-ruled.
Furthemore, especially in the books, she’s very stubborn. In the books, when Crookshanks keeps attacking Scabbers and Ron finds Scabbers ‘dead’ in his bed. Despite the overwhelming contradicting evidence and multiple people disagreeing, she clings to the conclusion that Crookshanks couldn’t have done it. She was right of course but the point still stands.
And also, after their first Divination lesson, and Trelawney makes the prediction about the Grim and Harry’s encounter with the Grim at the start, Hermione keeps insisting that it’s rubbish, clinging onto her own conclusion that Trelawney’s predictions about the Grim were BS, even after Ron said his uncle died twenty-four hours lafter seeing the Grim. Once she’s made up her mind, she sticks to it, proven by these and her insistence of S.P.E.W despite the consistent dismissal from everyone.
She only trusts what can be physically seen or proved, hence her dismissal of Divination. And her dismissal of Harry saying to crush the thing instead of cutting because it wouldn’t be safe to go against what the book says. Very Taurus, very experiential and trusts what’s proven to work before. Again, Virgos are more open to new methods and new information, they’re not as sceptical.
She also remained endlessly devoted to Hagrid’s case with Buckbeak even with all the extra subjects she was doing while Ron and Harry were occupied with other things and also sometimes mad at her depending on the time, whether it was over Scabbers or Hermione telling McGonagall about the Firebolt. Tauruses are very hardworking and determined. Virgos, due to their perfectionism and overthinking, are massive procrastinators.
She’s also very emotionally expressive. Virgos are probably the least expressive out of the earth signs, constantly trying to rationalise their feelings. Capricorns are emotional when they’re alone. Tauruses are more emotional expressive, being Venus-ruled.
