Sigh.

Damian glanced at his wife in the passenger seat as they passed the Batburger billboard. She leaned her head back on the headrest as she stared out the window, absently rubbing her very pregnant belly. 

She was fixated, for the last two weeks.

Not only would she sigh wistfully every time they drove by that particular billboard, she would allow the ad to play all the way through every time she scrolled through her social media accounts. She had liked every single post featuring jokerized fries on the Batburger photogram account. 

She’d never even been to Batburger before.

He reached out to hold her hand, gently caressing her fingers with his thumb. If his darling wanted jokerized fries, then she would have them.

Damian stayed at the office a little later than usual, with a request for Alfred to pick Marinette up and bring her home. Now he was impatiently waiting for his order at the Batburger drive thru window. Once he had the bag of food, he had to rein in his desire to peel out of the lot, excitement for the surprise making him antsy to get home. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel the whole way.

Once he reached home, he only paused for a moment to take his shoes off at the door before carrying the bag into the living room where Marinette was sitting on the couch. She greeted him but didn’t look up as she clicked the remote to flick through the choices on the streaming service.

“Hello, darling,” he said, and then waved the food in front of her.

She looked then, eyes wide as she read the name on the brown paper bag.

“Is that for me?”

“Of course.” 

He sat next to her and kissed her forehead. 

“Is it jokerized fries? How did you know I wanted them?” Her eyes teared up as she looked inside the bag. “I don’t even know if I like them.”

He smiled at her and stole a fry.
