Disregard click bait title, watch video. Game Devs are getting steadily more open and saying the quiet part out loud.
Investor demands and financial over-a-barrel tactics make for bad art. And video games are art.
Nobody likes a bad video game. But a game broken under ridiculous return demands? All my hate.
Hey, so this odd, but I was just scrolling through Youtube Shorts and found this video. It's just a simple video of a dude showing a woman who enjoys his stuff how to do a simple spiral art thing. Nothing amazing, but its still clear they both enjoy it. HALF the comments on the video are people just shitting on him for "not making real art" or "classifying this as art." Honestly it got so fucking frustrating that I'm sharing this video as much as I can just to help give the dude some more support. So yeah, it's fucking annoying. Also, do you think this art is worthless? Do you think the dude should never make art again? Because I the hell don't think either of that. I just kind of want to hear how others feel about people saying stuff like this isn't art. (Also saw a comment that ticked me off big time:
“So what do you do?” “ oh I’m an artist” “ oh cool like you paint? Or make music?” “no I poke holes in paint cans and swing em around” “oh your an autist I thought you said artist.” Like, what the hell?) Anyways, sorry for the mini rant this kind of shit just ticks me off.
art
When the one who has experienced can translate a conscious or subconscious thoughts to an object, or through it, be it is painting, drawing, sculpturing, or composing music, and evokes an emotion in the viewer's mind; it is divine - it is art//
i swear if i see someone else posting along the lines of ‘that’s not poetry’ in reference to short pieces that people publish on here i’m gonna scream
ffs it’s how people are expressing themselves. i’m sorry that rupi kaur’s book was underwhelming for you but criticizing everyone who writes ‘watered down tumblr poetry’ is unnecessary and annoying. just because it’s not your style doesn’t mean it isn’t poetry.
poetry is for everybody. poetry doesn’t have to be 20+ lines long with complex literary symbolism and in-depth metaphors. poetry can be a sentence from your journal that instills something in you when you read it. poetry can be a random thought that pops into your head as you reread your favorite book or look at the world around you.
your poetry is your poetry. don’t let anybody take that away from you.

Sorry guys...I'm gonna rant for a bit.
The definition of art form is, "Any activity regarded as a medium of imaginative or creative self-expression." This could be a ballad, a novel, a poem, a painting, etc. This also includes rap. Rap is used to express ones self. It is imaginative and it is creative. True, a lot of the rap that is well-known has content involving fucking every girl you see and killing cops, but that is not all there is! Rap gets a bad...rap. That can be blamed a lot by the money bags in the media. And they have corrupted every art form at one time or another. It's called greed. It's a part of the world. Sorry. Rappers write about their pain, their joy, their desire. These individuals create straight from the soul. How dare you deny someone, who has put their heart into their creative work, the title of "Artist". That just pisses me off.
He also kept making the argument that art must "endure". That rap has not done this, like opera or theatre. It has not "withstood the test of time". First of all, rap is MUCH younger than opera or theatre (both of which have been around a couple hundred years). Rap is a very young art form in that respect. It has only just begun if you look at it that way. And in its time, it has endured. It's still being produced, isn't it? It is still evolving. Popular modern rap has negative connotations? Umm...have you heard of some of the earlier forms of theatre? Morality plays. Black face. Both were extremely degrading and just plain wrong. Your argument is invalid, sir.
Now, I get it. This guy has been in the opera/music world for longer than I have been alive, but that doesn't mean he should have a closed mind. Opera is a very intricate, beautiful genre of art. So is rap. It takes talent and passion to create rap. Just because you don't understand something or like it, does not mean its value is decreased. It's simply not your thing. But don't bring it down. Don't degrade it. And do not degrade the individuals who are a part of it. That goes for anything. Whether it be in the arts, religions, politics. Respect and appreciate it as a part of humanity.
Sorry guys. I've just been all fired up ever since and had to let it out somewhere.
