Sometimes I envy

The simplicity of life

As a cat.

It sounds absurd

But there’s something

Appealing about

The ability to hide

In plain sight.

She hesitated to let him in

But some greater power seemed to

Assure her he was to be trusted

She didn’t know how

But suddenly

He became the center

Of her shattered universe

but he ended up

breaking her

even more

and she realised

you can’t always trust
