Everything seemed peaceful on the surface in the city, people laughing talking upon their cell phones, children playing in the near-by park, old people gossiping amongst each other as they fed the birds, runners moving quickly over the sidewalk as their music blared from their headphones. It was an overly mundane and normal to everyone there.
The artificial peace didn't last, however, as a fat balding man in a tattered business suit lumbered forward as fast as his short legs could take him. He was bleeding from numerous small cuts, and screaming for someone to help him. The people withiin his immediate area stared flabbergasted at the mere sight of him, no one really listening to him as he wailed for assistance. Some people even pushed him away, thinking him to be another lunatic escaped from the psychiatric ward. Parents hustled over to their children's general area to stand guard in case the man had the gall to come towards them.
After being pushed away from the third person he begged to let them use their cell phones, he stumbled forward about to begin his begging anew with someone else. Instead he stopped mid-step, the blood that had been frantically pulsing through his face stopping to make him appear whiter than a ghost. To the average person, it looked as if he were just about to faint for no reason apart from whatever medical condition ailed him. However, to the man it was something he wished he could faint from. A scent wafted to his nose, a very familiar and frightening smell of roses and pomegranates. The very trees seemed to stiffen in the breeze and loom deadly calm near him. The grass stiffened under his feet seemingly angry that he had the audacity to stand upon it.
The man finally regained control of his body from his fright, and tried to move but couldn't. It was as if his feet were stuck against cement. He chanced a glance down at his feet and nearly screamed when he saw the blades of grass had grown where he stood encasing both of his feet complete so it was impossible for him to move. He looked about calling out for help, but everyone seemed to have given him a wide berth fearing that he would attack them. Frantically he struggled to move, thinking to himself how these people couldn't see what was happening right before their eyes. Couldn't they feel how nature shifted, couldn't the smell her sickeningly sweet scent wafting through the air?! Feeling something slid up his ankles he knew that it was helpless struggling. Once she had you it was over . . . he was a fool to think that she had lost him.
she had let him run, let him think that he was safe once he made it towards people. How foolish was he? He was only to be an example for all those watching.
People watched as the man seemingly had a panic attack within the middle of the park. Some parents had rushed to take their kids away, but most were a little too shocked to move. A few people were on their phones calling the police to report a delusional man to get him removed before he hurt himself or others around him. No one noticed something growing from the ground between his equally unnoticed trapped feet. It wasn't till the man screamed, wetting his pants completely that others had taken in the whole picture.
The man screamed out louder as a large vine crushed his right leg, but kept him standing as it spiraled around his large body. He was aware that he had pissed himself, and to him it was for good reason since as he screamed his abuser showed herself as a giant plant erupted from the ground twenty feet away from him, it looking as if it were a giant Venus fly trap that had yet to sprout. As it opened one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen sat within its clutches running a hand lovingly over the inside of the things mouth. "PLEASE LET ME GO! I DIDN'T MEAN TO HURT YOU OR YOUR CHILDREN. OH GOD PLEASE LET ME GO!"
Poison Ivy simply smiled as she looked at the man blubbering like a baby in front of her, unable to contain a small laugh at the darkened fabric of his once designer suit. She would never let him go though. "You knew what you were doing when you destroyed that forest. Killing my innocent babies that I had nurtured from seedlings." Her smile turned to a frown as rage consumed her once again. It was time to end this. "Well, Mother Nature strikes back now...and you will be my example to all those watching right now that things are about to change in this city."
His eyes widened about to start screaming out please and to bargain with her using everything in his power to persuade her. He couldn't even get the first word out of his mouth. From between his legs, a thorned vine shot up straight into his body skewering him straight down the middle before the thorns extended through his body, sort of making him resemble an inside out pin cushion. One such thorn extended from his mouth, which was stuck in an 'O'. Blood oozed from the wounds inflicted upon him, dripping to the ground.
Things were quiet for a moment, before everyone came to their senses, screaming and running from the park - some with their phones out recording the whole scene just like Ivy wished to happen. She watched as they scattered like ants away from her, a smile upon her face as she leaned back relaxed within her plant. It was only a matter of time before the whole world received her message.
Mother Nature is back... and this time ... this time she's not pulling any punches. Nature is fighting back.
