Privacy has become more and more a sensitive issue in our society. I am therefore not surprised that more is being played on this subject. You will undoubtedly have heard of GDPR or General Data Protection Regulation. The social media is full with comments en critical points. But what is this?

GDPR deals with the management and security of personal data of European citizens. From May 2018, Every company or organization must be able to demonstrate which personal data is collected, how they this data is use and how they protect it. This new legislation is due to the fact that old rules have not yet been adapted to the digital world of today. This data is very variable, this can be about the e-mail traffic and financial data of suppliers, information from clients, information based on loyalty cards such as buying behavior, etc.

I am in an association that also deals with personal data. So there is a file with all the data of the registered leaders. This information is also passed on to the group management of other Chiro's, of course with permission. But we do not know what else happens to it. In what way do we have to take this into account? 

I think that it is not bad that data is kept. Everyone wants to be more personally touched and contacted in a way that they want it. And of course this is not possible without certain personal data. However, I think it is important that these data remain confidential and not just spread to other companies.
