So as one of the things I decided to do in the new year is start art journaling. Which for me is painting a little something everyday. What I have mostly been painting is more of an abstract kind of journaling. What’s funny is that when I started painting back in 98 or before🤷🏻‍♀️ , I never was much of a fan of abstract work. I just didn’t get it. Maybe I still don’t to some point BUT I’m starting to. I like the freedom it affords me. I can put down any thing I choose to just release whatever is on my mind. It gives me a freedom to express whatever and the viewer may, or more than likely, may not find where my mind is going but that’s not a bad thing. They can make up their own mind in the piece. My other forms of art well they tell a story that’s somewhat easier to follow. Maybe you still don’t see what I was thinking when painting the piece but you still have a story in your head. I like the rawness of the abstract, it’s like taking it more down to the bare bones of things for me. Whatever the case I am enjoying experimenting and journaling all the while still working on my current piece that’s on the easel. Here is my most recent journal piece. Many years ago I had a wolf that visited me regularly in my dreams and would lead me out of danger. I had a lot going on with a sick mum and my own struggles with dyslexia. I felt disconnected and afraid but somehow this wolf gave me an unexpected sense of support and connection. This initial experience with dream animal guidance opened me up in new ways as l began to listen. Nature is one of the things that helped me find my inner balance and calm in the imbalance of the world outside. This was the beginning of me opening up to an intuitive path and creating what I have come to refer to as soul stories. Do you have a strong connection to nature?
