stairs to nowhere–

unfulfilled potential.

concrete and metal,

harsh and unforgiving

being rounded

softened in shape,

takes away some of

their visual bite

however,

trip and fall

and the effect

of hitting your head

is more or less the same

uninviting,

yet it calls to me

i came here to think,

to breathe,

to cry

there is an ocean

of tears

inside of me,

but I can’t drown

even if I wanted to,

the water drains

through the holes

in the cage’s grate

faster than

it can collect

artificially trapped–

i am free to go

at any time !

the door is open !

come in !

get out !

but an open door

also implies

it will one day

the other shoe drops–

trapping me

forever

but as it stands

the only thing

keeping me

trapped here

is me

im still not a fan of either dave or buster (bad painting no. 1) acrylic on canvas. 2024

i was told this was too beautiful to be a "bad" painting & i agree but I wanted to convey the sheer over stimulation that is dave & busters which i think i did a pretty good job. I literally couldn't focus bc theres so many noises, sounds & people that my brain shut down & my eyes glazed over. I still had fun though for the most part 👍
