i need help with figuring this. Arthur's got a.. personality i can not figure out. I know he's seemingly has a shy personality, not counting being mute. But, the way he moves around.. give me the idea he's very... jittery? gets scared easily? Although seems to be curious and yet confused with new things. The way he moves when he's scared, is like when a horse gets scared.

I am so sorry if you don't talk about your short animation, Skip anymore.. i just really enjoy the characters, especially Arthur..- he's got a special place in my heart.. not the way he looks, but the whole thing. I draw him a lot, practicing.. i just, hope you understand that i want to know so much about him... so i know him fully. Mesi, i love her as well, strong and brave! she gives me, a chance to stand up for myself, where Arthur gives me a chance to stay curious and learn new things. right?.. i adore them, and forever will! i read TPaTJ about a dozen times, and i always love to watch Skip. made in Canada. i really wanna go to the same animation studio you made Skip in.. its my dream...

Anyway you're spot on. A lot of Arthur's personality and design was inspired by horses; hence his surname, Steed (which he finds sort of embarrassing so his stage name is usually reduced to simply Arthur). His personality is an exaggeration of parts of myself, and hugely influenced by Buster Keaton's character on screen. He is quiet, innocent, inquisitive, and can be startled! But through it all he always tries to do the right thing, even if it requires doing something crazy! I recommend watching Keaton's short films, you'll get the idea!

I made that film at Vancouver Film School, I still don't quite know how it was such a blur of activity, and if you ever get the chance to stop by you might be able to take a tour once the plague is over? Great place.

I didn’t know how much I needed a Jester hat until we had it sewn.

I have to admit I have no idea what I’m doing becuase I’ve never sent fan art to anyone before and this isn’t technically fanart. But… I figured out what I wanted to be for Halloween, and that was my favorite character, the one I wish I’d been clever enough to come up with.

Really, the Princess and the Jester is my favorite story pretty much ever, and I’ve learned a lot about how to draw simply by looking at your art. I wore it to a party, and didn’t talk once the entire time. I even got to wear it to work on Halloween, and I plan to wear it to a renaissance festival soon.

I’ve got to thank you for your wonderful stories, the amazing ongoing plot of TPoH, and especially the Duck Doodle Comics. Its all amazing, and inspired me towards something I’d like to do one day (write comics, that is.) My art needs major improvement, but practice makes perfect, after all, and your style and work has always impressed me to no end.

I’m going to hope there isn’t a character limit and ask two questions as well, as I’m not sure where else to ask them. Is Clip going to be continued eventually?

And, might you ever do a story on how the Jester came to his job and met the princess? Becuase if not, I may very well someday try my hand at a small fancomic, becuase the story behind those two is something that will stay with me for a long time :)

Question, What color is Arthur's hair? black or brown?

brown! but very dark brown so most people assume it's black unless they get to see it up close/in the sunlight
