Hi i love your art! I would like to ask you what are your top 10 favorite Batman comics?
WOAH..! Thank you so much 😳! Ah, I'm afraid this is where I have to out myself as a fake Batman fan, because most of my reading was just following the n52 mainline as it released, and that's when I liked just about anything.
I actually haven't read a lot of the classics (and even when I have, my bad memory doesn't retain ANY of it), on top of my very long hiatus. But I'll try to remember the ones that left an impression...
BATMAN (2011) - The Court of Owls (Synder, Capullo, Glapion)
A modern classic! Comic writers are consistently creating their own bad guys, wanting to make a lasting impression on the infamous rogue's gallery, but rarely does it every stick. Snyder managed to be the one exception, and for that alone, this is worth the read.
BATMAN (2011) - Zero Year (Synder, Capullo, Plascencia)
Honestly I don't remember a lot about this one, other than the art being gorgeous; FCO is a god-tier colourist. This was also the arc where comics kinda started "clicking" for me, so that counts for something.
BATMAN & ROBIN (2011) (Tomasi, Gleason, Gray)
HA HA, I TRICKED YOU! This one still counts as Batman, right? I started reading B&R after I caught up with mainline Batman, and the rest is history. Genuinely fantastic, I'd recommend it to anyone.
ROBIN: SON OF BATMAN (2015) (Gleason, Grey, Kalisz)
TRICKED YOU AGAIN! Not Batman, but it would be criminal of me not to include this. If you like Batman & Robin (2011), then this comic is like the expansion pack. I miss Gleason's involvement every single day...
I would recommend The Boy Wonder (2025, Ba) as well, but that would be pushing my luck.
I'll admit, these recommendation are based more on nostalgia than anything; I guess I prefer reading issue-by-issue, but I wasn't a fan when King took over, and Zdarsky's recent run was kinda boring to me, so now I only read................ Damian comics 💀🤡 (everyone point and laugh).
