arthurian au idea #25: discovering the past
Gabriel is a literature professor who starts to think that there is more in his past that he'd like to admit. Strange dreams, memories coming from nowhere, flashes of swords and holy cups. He travels through libraries, page after page, trying to find out the answers to his questions. Morris is a swordman, once son of King Arthur and a teacher of the sport during his free time, he mostly deals with enthusiastic arthurian tourists during his bartender job in Tintagel. When he meets Gabriel he already knows what the other man is looking for but looking the once and future Galahad discovering his past is not as fun as he tought when he realizes that Gabriel's opinion of him may change the more he finds out about Mordred. The more he knows Gabriel, the more time he spends with him, the more desperate he is in his attempts to distract Gabriel from his search.
James Norton as Galahad/Gabriel; Daniel Bruhl as Mordred/Morris
So I like old movies and classic movies and sometimes I think "Look at her/him, a perfect *insert arthurian character here*!" so this started as a "movies of the 30s and 40s" and simply became "all the old movies!" arthurian dreamcast. Sorry.
Christopher Plummer as Arthur; Dorothy Dandridge as Guinevere; Omar Shariff as Lancelot; Bette Davis as Morgan; Loretta Young as Morgause; Dirk Bogarde as Kay; Terrence Stamp as Mordred; Ninetto Davoli as Galahad; Sidney Poitier as Bedivere; James Fox as Percival; Mary Pickford as Elaine of Corbenic; Theresa Harris as Vivian; George Segal as Gawain; Charles Boyer as Agravaine; Jean-Claude Brialy as Gaheris; Peggy Dow as Ragnelle; Rita Hayworth as Laurel and Hideko Takamine as Lynette.
