After all these years in the fandom, I feel the need to do an Arthur/Eames fic rec. I’m very, very picky when it comes to fanfiction, so this list is going to be pretty short. Also, I honestly think the best Dream Husbands fics are AUs, since they had so little screen time, there are just so many universes and situations to explore to really get to know them. But I also love it when they still keep their core traits: Arthur being a little bit of a stick-in-the-mud, and Eames being an absolute dork.

Patience, a Steady Hand - Helenish - Inception (2010) [Archive of Our Own]: This is my favorite of all time. I read it every year. I love it. This is everything.

Memoirs of a Prisoner - OneWhoSitsWithTurtles - Inception (2010) [Archive of Our Own]: this will break your heart. I don't read the last chapter anymore. It's so good tho.

OMG I JUST NOTICED-

Okay, so I just finished watching Inception for the first time aince like 2011, right? Well, I know it's turning into a hyperfocus because I literally didn't want to do anything else except consume it, so I'm watching it again.

In doing that as well as looking into the movie - fanart and whatnot - I noriced that Eames' totem and Arthur's totem match!

Well, not entirely, but both are used in gambling. A loaded die and a poker chip. They're also both red and white.

Yeeesss this could be spun that they were like gambling partners once upon a time, maybe running scams on people before getting into the dream business, but I personally like to think of it like they kept these specific totems because they reminded them of each other. And they're totally flirting, well, Eames is! Arthur is scared to show his feelings because maybe he's been burned before? Who knows, only the fanfic writers 😎

Hi All,

I’m the one looking for a fic this time. It should have been easy to find because there are a few very specific and particular references that should have narrowed my search but, alas, I cannot locate it.

It starts off with A and E drunk and stumbling into a hotel room, it’s funny and light, Eames rips his jacket pocket on the door knob, Arthur finds it hilarious, Eames does a chaotic strip tease then zerberts Arthur’s tummy. (The word ZERBERT is used and that should have led me directly to this fic!)

Then they travel together a bit. There’s the Christ statue in Rio and a sunset (I think). Eames mentions another enormous statue of Jesus called Christ of the Cabbages or something along those lines. The whole premise of the fic, as I recall, is how easily and beautifully they “fell into bed together” and the bit of angst comes when Arthur feels like getting back to dreamshare when maybe Eames was hoping for more down time together.

I feel like it could be related to the fic where Eames loves sugary breakfast cereals, cartoons and drawing elaborate detailed illustrations and that ease and sweetness surprises Arthur. I can sometimes confuse two fics in my head or remember one fic as two different ones.

Anyone know these?
