Leaving You For Good

Here under the sun, Yogyakarta is still lovely as ever.
It seems that I will leave this lovely city pretty soon. I won’t be here next month, or months after. Five years I’ve been staying in this very friendly place, surrounded by the love, laugh, and sincerity. Through the ups and down, I chose to stay while hoping “Just a little while longer… I’ll stay a bit longer.” Until the love has gone (it sounds like a song, doesn’t it?), the laugh has left me, and only the sincerity of strangers stays.
So many things have happened here. In the balcony of a coffee shop I had a fight. In the parking lot I got the smile from a parking attendant. On the sidewalks, under the moonlight, I ate angkringan and drank a cup of hot ginger. In a burjo with the dim light I burst into laughter, laughing at the ridiculous topic I had with friends. In a simple rented house I cried pathetically after a breakup.
A farewell is made to welcome the new. A memory is kept to give lessons to the clueless mind. A belief is believed to give strength the powerless human. An effort is put to answer to the challenge. A hope is lighted up to fuel the weak soul.
So long, Yogyakarta! This warmth of yours never will I forget.
P.S. Jakarta, could you please be (a bit) nice to me?
