Some #artpetpeeve stuff I posted on Twitter.
Dear artist friends: if a ship is moving to the same direction as the wind, there is no way the flag can be pointing back.
It is unlikely to have snow at the top of a chimney if there is a fire in the fireplace. I see this one often.
And let's just stop putting stars in front of the moon, okay?
Disclaimer & a tip: I’d never consider someone’s stylistical choices a pet peeve. It’s those little things that are not possible in the real world (excluding obvious fantasy elements), and they give paintings and drawings a “something is off but I can’t put my finger on it” feeling. Being observant in how our world (and basic physics) works helps improve your art and get those important little things right. It’s always stuff that seems obvious once you realize it but something you maybe just didn’t think of before.
