Art Of The Day (AOTD): "Plastic Q" 51 x 62cm Unframed Dimensions Variable 2022 -Stretched Cotton Canvas, Polyurethane Stained Varnish, Plastic Lid, Acrylic, Enamel, Emulsion, Marble, Adhesive. What's the artwork about? Much appreciated from the support of the community in Sustainability Art as a collective effort to save the environment. Plastic has become marine debris that poses a threat to the environment. It has caused detrimental effects to the marine ecosystem. Humans throw plastics in the ocean, overtime breakdown into micro plastic, the fish eats it, the fisherman catches the fish, the fish goes to the wet market, the fishmonger sells the fish, and humans buy the fish and cook it for the family's livelihood. It's an infinite vicious cycle and a never-ending story. This artwork resonates well with a typical daily life of being a Singaporean. Queueing. Plastic bottle caps are seen queueing almost for everything. Queue for food, buying lottery tickets, boarding public transport, medical appointments, registration and other activities. Singaporeans' favourite pastime. Besides just about queueing, there is a very important message to convey. That is, making our everyday lifestyle more sustainably conscious in helping to save the planet. The Earth is in distress, please do not add on to the stress. Act responsibly before discarding the plastic. Come feel free to drop by my art booth.
