ARTru 2016: Celebrating The Art In Life

ARTru as an event was launched on the 26th of September, 2015 at the Main Auditorium University of Lagos. The name “ARTru” is an acronym of the phrase “Art Through” which looks at the Visual Arts in respect to the Performing Arts. The concert brought together a Visual Artist to perform live on the same stage with the Musical Artistes, Theatre Artistes and other performing Artistes. In the maiden edition captioned HEAR US a visual artist (Kelani Abass) was compelled to create a piece art work on stage with a mix of white canvass, acrylic paints and other objects (biscuit paper, nylon, newspaper and other waste), as the audience watched for over three hours, against the over four weeks it takes an artist to produce the same piece of work from the comfort of his studio. ARTru promotes and projects the Visual Arts and Artists in Nigeria, as well as projecting the relationships that exists between the Visual Arts and other Performing Arts. It features an exhibition of creativity in the fields of Art and combines this with a concert of the other performing arts.   ARTru is a celebration of Arts & Culture and is also intended to bring back an enhanced version of "FESTAC 77" The success of the maiden edition made it necessary for a follow-up edition in 2016. ARTru is proudly convened by Brotherart Productions, a media and entertainment outfit engaged in Artwork Productions, Marketing, Film Productions as well as general Event Planning / Management. The company was established with a vision to effect positive changes in the entertainment industry in Nigeria, and the world at large. The Founder / Chief Executive Officer is an experienced film producer and Arts manager, Nkang Ini Dan is a Visual Artist, as well as an Event Planner/ Manager. He has an educational qualification in the Arts, and many years of work experience from producers such as Tony Biyi (Director Theatre Centrik), Pius Okugbere (Master Story Teller), Chief Femi Robinson (Former Village Headmaster) and Koffi Idowu Nuel. He specializes in film / artist management, model consultancy, event planning / management, etc. Nkang Ini Dan and Brotherart Productions proudly present ‘ARTru 2016’ holding on the 12th of November, 2016 at Glover Hall, Marina Lagos. Headline act is the Visual Artist Mike Asukwo and special appearance by comedian ‘Koffi’.
