hello hello, I love this blog. I wanted your opinion on something, is that cool? I went on some blog recently and they mentioned that vegans, in general, were racist (among other things) and I was wondering what you guys thought of that? Do you find that vegans can come off, or are, racist? Because I'm vegan and I don't see what that has to do with racism but I was just wondering what you guys think.x

I don’t believe white vegans are any more racist than any other white people. The self-righteous vegans can often make very ignorant statements with regard to the ease at which one can be vegan, ignoring economic, social, and cultural barriers to a vegan lifestyle. However, like I said, I don’t believe they are particularly more racist than white people from any other subculture.

To be honest, people of color have dietary habits that are a part of our marginalization, and we have been fooled into thinking they’re a part of our culture. Many of those habit are habits worth breaking. We shouldn’t take an attack on meat as an attack on our culture, because the meat they are feeding us is killing us.

Edit: But don't take this as permission to tell POC they're wrong about their feelings toward white vegans. White vegans can be gigantic, appropriative racists quite often and quite easily.
