Kara held onto Ana's neck, her hands wrapped around their best friend. Yet even though there was the danger of falling face first into God knows where and dropping to her death below them, Kara was not holding onto her fully, trying to keep a distance between her arms and hands and making as little contact with Ana's body as possible, even though Ana had a pretty solid hold on Kara's body as they both flew across the clouds.
Causing Kara to cough, well, more like bark, earning a glance from Ana that lasted as fast as it came. It wasn't the most unnatural thing Kara had going for herself as a Viltrumite. This wasn't the worst she had seen. Not like she would freak out about it. At most she'd raise an eyebrow if it was something that made Ana internally rethink, "Why did I become acquaintances with her again?"
But all that aside, Kara was babbling on about some human customs of Earth, meanwhile Ana had her gaze focused on the location they were headed toward.
A childish gasp escaped Kara as she pointed upward somewhere above them. There wasn't anything there, but the sound was.
"It's probably an airplane! I recognize their sound perfectly! Come on, let's go there! Fly! Fly!"
She thrust her body up and down, jumping like a baby in excitement while being held in Ana's hands.
Ana only responded with her ever unbreaking face. Her response was already obvious to both Kara and herself. Kara could already read her face like a professional. Yet she brought herself to say it out loud anyway.
"No."
She stated it without leaving any room to argue, though she knew Kara wasn't the type of person to back down from these things, even though her voice clearly stated that she didn't want to deal with any of this shit. Especially Kara's.
Her request beforehand that led them to this was already something she didn't want to do. She had planned training, some sparring, and combat for the day. But again, here they were. Flying in the hot summer sky. Not like it was a problem for Ana as a Viltrumite. Hell, if someone were to throw her into the sun, she would probably only break one sweat and wipe her forehead once if she stayed there for a day.
"Oh, come on. You're such a party pooper."
Kara whined, suddenly hitting her head against Ana's shoulder, which immediately backfired as she held her head, earning only more sounds of pathetic suffering from her mouth.
Ana only let out a sigh, which seemed to immediately catch Kara's attention and cut her suffering short. A small glimmer of hope appeared in her eyes as she slowly revealed her hidden face from being buried into Ana's shoulder.
The glimmer seemed to glow more as Kara heard the familiar sound of an airplane getting closer. Waiting for her mouth to let out the sentence, or word. Since in action she just kept flying, but at a slower pace, before slowly coming to a stop.
"No."
Her previous words repeated, her stare still focused on anywhere but Kara. Before she finally did.
"And keep your suffering and whining at a lower volume."
Suddenly, she felt a rough shove as two feet met her stomach. It didn't hurt. It just got a surprised reaction out of her as Kara flew off into the sky above, hitting clouds along the way and leaving holes within them.
This is when she wants to use her powers? Yet doesn't even bother sparring or using them for actually useful things like combat training. This woman...
With a heavily held back sigh and a slight tilt of her head backward, closing her eyes, Ana stayed there. Arms crossed, floating in the same spot where she stopped, unmoving. Only her cape moved every so often because of the wind.
She heard the loud giggles and laughter coming from above, the booming voice of her acquaintance. She really couldn't believe that human, girl, was also half Viltrumite.
"THIS SHIT IS SO AWESOME! AHAHAAAAAAA!!!"
She really, REALLY couldn't believe that she was half Viltrumite.
I have no excuse for this but I've been listening to Finally /// beautiful stranger by Halsey and tonight at uni I saw a couple dancing together at the bus stop, just one spinning the other and swaying to no music, and I immediately thought that Hob would do that do Morpheus so have this, i guess?
Morpheus is not often distracted, certainly not when his negligence might result in the damnation of his realm and his creations, and after a century of imprisonment in a glass orb with no room for breathing, neither in the waking world.
Yet, somehow, between one sentence and another, he finds he can no longer discern what Hob Gadling had been saying. Although, his lover is not to blame. Even now that their meetings have become weekly (sometimes, daily) appointments, he's remained just as intrigued with Hob's fascination for the world he's spent the last six centuries in as he was when his 'project' had just begun.
In truth, he could not explain when his attention drifted away, but one moment he's staring at the display of the cellphone Hob is presenting to him, bright, colorful figures and a myriad of possibilities ("It's like holding a bloody computer in the palm of your hand!") and the next his mind has brought... certain details into sharp focus.
Such as the callouses on the hand Hob is holding the device with, acquired from years brandishing a sword into battle. Or the manner in which his other hand gestures at every word he says, waving and drawing patterns in the air as if to keep Morpheus entertained. Perhaps, it did too much of a good job.
Alas, the Lord of the Dreaming must have forgotten to pretend he was listening, because, suddenly, he feels a strong pull towards Hob and had he been human, his heart would have leaped in his chest at the motion.
Belatedly, he realizes the 'pull' was actually his lover's hand on the small of his back, drawing him closer. Even after the distance between them has been reduced to a hairs breadth, Hob's arms encircle his waist in a firm hold, but still loose enough that he can escape the embrace if he so wishes. He does not.
Hob grins, victoriously, as he does on any occasion where Morpheus allows physical contact. This time, however, he does not let go after the silence stretches on. If anything, his smile widens, and he begins to sway his body side to side slowly, step by step, leading Morpheus into what can only be a makeshift waltz.
Except, there's something missing.
"Hob?" Morpheus finds his voice, at last.
Hob doesn't miss a beat, "Yes, love?" The endearment is spoken so casually it threatens to distract him again, but Morpheus cannot afford to make a fool of himself with a dancing partner.
And so, he points out, "There is no music playing."
Hob snorts, amused, "I'm aware, Morpheus." Then, he steps back, takes Morpheus' hand in his and twirls him to the left. For once, Morpheus follows his lead.
Still, "Then, what is the purpose of this?"
A pause. Hob stops swaying and blinks at him, baffled. There is indeed no music playing but you could hear a pin drop in Hob's living room. An Endless should not be familiar with feelings such as anxiety and dread, so Morpheus catalogues the different emotions in the brown of Hob's eyes whilst he waits. They're his favorite part of his beloved; young in appearence but aged by the passage of time and all the beauty and horrors they've witnessed.
He tenses up when Hob sighs, but relaxes at the gentleness in his gaze. It is a familiar look, the one Hob gets whenever Morpheus dares to question something so simple and so mundane: equally fond and exasperated.
"My dear, sweet Dream, here's another lesson on humanity," Hob resumes their waltz, unbothered. "We don't always need a reason, a purpose, to do something. Sometimes, we do it just because."
Morpheus blinks, slow and cat-like. "Just because?" He demands a better explanation.
Hob is laughing now, but not at him. "That's right! Things like having a glass of wine even though we're not thirsty, or falling asleep even when we're not tired, or dancing with a lover when there's no music playing." He gestures at the two of them. "These are some of the simple pleasures of life."
Simple pleasures, that sounds like something his sibling, Desire, would appreciate to hear. Morpheus cannot find it in himself to complain, though. He understands it. "I see." A small, not so rare smile follows his answer.
Hob's eyebrows climb up to his hairline. "You do?" He spins Morpheus in his arms again, but his eyes never leave his lover, even as they part and reunite in their dance.
Morpheus hums, "Is it not similar to when I prepared a meal for you in your kitchen, even though I do not require food?"
The mention of the occurrence seems to surprise Hob. He sputters, choking a little. "Yeah, that- that definitely counts, love. Oh, don't go pouting at me now, I did enjoy it! It lacked salt and you probably forgot a few ingredients, but I imagine you haven't cooked for anyone in a while."
He hadn't, but Hob had taken it as his mission to feed Morpheus whenever he visited him in the waking world. It was only fair he returned the favor, especially when food is one of the wonders of life Hob never seems to tire of.
However, he's too prideful to admit to it just yet. "What use does it have for one such as I? I rule the dreams of men, assembling a feast should be no problem. I require only the will and creativity of my dreamers."
Hob shakes his head, as if he's heard it all before. He concedes, "Never said you couldn't, darling, but don't think I'm an ungrateful bugger! It was perfect for me. Did I not eat everything you prepared?"
Morpheus takes that into consideration, though he doesn't need to. Hob is daydreaming about the day his lover welcomed him home with dinner and, more importantly, his presence at the table.
He smiles, bashful, and compromises. "Apologies, I shall try again soon, for my beloved."
Hob marvels at the proposition. "You don't have to... But would you really, for me?" In spite of his refusal, his face lights up.
Morpheus doesn't say, I would overthrow kingdoms for you, condemn your enemies to eternal sleep and haunt their nightmares religiously. I would lay waste to the waking world if you asked and risk Destiny's wrath. There is very little I would not sacrifice.
Instead, he raises Hob's hand to his lips and places a chaste kiss on the back. A promise, an oath sworn by the King of Dreams. He is not unfamiliar with devotion, after all.
He says, "Perhaps, my sister could advise me on the matter. She has excellent taste in food."
"Perhaps." Hob agrees.
And Morpheus holds on to his vows, as they begin to dance anew.

Okay, so first of all, happy new year! I don't know if it's already January 1st where you are but as I'm posting this it's 10 P.M. so let it be said that I finished it before 2021 and will be calling this my last fic of 2020!
This is also the second fic I write for this fandom, so if you're coming from Be My Husband, thank you so much for your support! It means a lot and I hope you like this one as well!
At first, it's not a big deal. Lan Wangji couldn't describe the situation as anything but boring.
He wasn't naive. He knew wandering through Cloud Recesses past curfew and bringing alcohol were not the only rules Wei Wuxian would break. He could tell by the look in his eyes back when they first met. Though, Lan Wangji did give him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he'd wait at least a week to resume his shenanigans.
He was proven wrong and realized there was no limit to that thick faced guy when he caught him drinking with his brother and his friend. He had to keep an eye on him, or the next months would result in more headaches. It was bad enough he had to punish himself after letting his guard down around Wei Wuxian, the first cultivator who seemed to be on his level.
(He would never admit it out loud, but it's true, and maybe part of the reason why he remained tolerant)
—
That night, Lan Wangji left his house an hour before curfew. He ducked behind one of the trees close to the guest disciples' quarters and guarded the place. If getting lectured by the grandmaster didn't stop Wei Wuxian, facing punishment would have even less effect.
An hour goes past and then two, and he wonders if he's exaggerating, the shame in breaking a rule to prevent the dishonor of his clan's motto finally starts taking a toll. Confused, he slowly steps out from his hiding spot, but as soon as he starts walking towards the jingshi, he's startled into action by a noise coming from his left.
It's faint and not enough to put anyone on alert, but Lan Wangji is no ordinary cultivator. He's sharp and wouldn't miss the slightest disruption, so he retreats and heightens his senses, even though it isn't necessary.
A tall figure emerges from one of the guest rooms, sneaking towards the main hall. As the stranger walks, dark hair flutters in the wind, his clothes ripple. When he comes closer, Lan Wangji recognizes the white robe meant for the guest disciples. The person smiles as if he's just hit the jackpot, and though he's still far, Lan Wangji can identify the bottle in one of his hands while the other carries a sword.
He narrows his eyes, gripping Bichen even harder. Wei Wuxian!
Although he's already found the troublemaker, Lan Wangji stands still and waits. Wei Wuxian looks from side to side to make sure he's alone and leaps the rooftop.
The same one from the first night, Lan Wangji notices and feels slightly intrigued about it.
Why would Wei Wuxian come back to the place where he's been caught if he could do it far from Gusulan's scrutiny and in the safety of his quarters? It's not like he knew Lan Wangji was planning to watch him closely. As dedicated as second master Lan was, he would never barge into his room in the middle of the night. The last thing he needed was Wei Wuxian thinking he's been stalking him.
He is not!
He ends up spacing out and barely realizes Wei Wuxian's already comfortably sat on the roof, savoring what he knew to be a drink called Emperor's Smile. Wei Wuxian loves it.
He seems so carefree, Lan Wangji can only furrow his eyebrows, wondering what would be the best way to approach him.
He shakes his head and dismisses that thought immediately. Why should he worry about that? He's there to bring Wei Wuxian to his uncle and make him confess he's breaking the rules, not chat him up!
Drinking and leaving your quarters past curfew are violations of Lan clan principles. Come with me and face punishment. He mentally rehearses, regardless of his previous thoughts.
He heads for the roof, floating calmly, and stares coldly at Wei Wuxian after landing. "Drinking and leaving your quarters past curfew are violations of Lan clan principles. Come with me and face punishment."
Wei Wuxian's so shocked he almost drops the bottle, frowning while he balances his drink in one hand and uses the other to pat his chest, like he's soothing his heart, "Aiya, Lan Zhan! You surprised me! That was good! You almost made me drop my drink again! Though we wouldn't want that, right? After all, you still haven't paid for that first one."
Lan Wangji had been straightforward and clear, but Wei Wuxian hasn't shown any signs of guilt. Perhaps, he should try again, "You are breaking two rules right now. I ask you to follow me."
For some reason, Wei Wuxian laughs, "Have mercy! Don't you think I've been punished enough after all those lashes?" He pouts. Lan Wangji can't avert his eyes for a moment.
Wei Wuxian takes his reaction as pity and rubs his back to remind him of the pain he felt. Lan Wangji isn't the kind to forget easily, but the gesture reminds him of the time spent with the other male at the Cold Pond. A shirtless Wei Wuxian asking Lan Wangji to be his friend flashes through his eyes, and he swallows.
Wei Wuxian doesn't hide how knowing Lan Wangji isn't a complete fuddy-duddy brings him joy, grinning mischievously. He decides to press on, "Lan Zhan, how about this, why don't you drink with me tonight? If you don't want to, you can just keep me company. We're both already breaking curfew."
Lan Wangji realizes his mistake, and his aloof demeanor falters. How can he lecture Wei Wuxian if he's also in the wrong? His ancestors would be ashamed! People who think they can do as they please and expect others to follow their rules are not qualified for the title of Gusulan disciple!
Wordless, he grips Bichen tighter and spins in his heels to go back to his room and sleep immediately. In the morning, he will confess, be punished, and stop minding Wei Wuxian's antics. If being improper is the price to rectify him, he would rather not get involved at all.
He almost leaps away from the roof when an unknown warmth spreads throughout his hand. Dumbfounded, he looks down at his arm, looking for the source of the heat, and he sees it.
He sees Wei Wuxian's hand wrapped around his own, his long fingers clutching Lan Wangji's palm. It'd be easy to free himself or unsheath Bichen and fly back to the ground, but he's unable to move then.
It's embarrassing if said out loud, but it's the first time someone other than his older brother ever holds his hand.
As the meaning of Lan Wangji's own sword's name says, he avoids worldly matters. He doesn't worry about trivialities, such as social interactions or physical contact. Polite as he is, he chooses to greet others with a graceful nod that they always return in kind. No one had ever dared to touch him without permission.
But Wei Wuxian had already proven himself as unordinary, so it was a given that the rumors about how second master Lan was reserved and cold wouldn't affect him as much.
Wei Wuxian whispers, "Lan Zhan."
Lan Wangji lifts his head, analyzing the features of his companion thoroughly. Wei Wuxian tugs on his hand, and he assumes he wouldn't let go until he agrees to stay.
It's rash, wrong, and his uncle would come close to qi-deviate if he could see him right now, but Lan Wangji delicately lowers himself and sits cross-legged on the roof.
"..." Wei Wuxian gapes at him, and something inside Lan Wangji melts as he realizes he's astonished. Wei Wuxian's so caught off guard only then he realizes he's still holding his hand, slowly letting go. "Oh, sorry about that, Lan Zhan."
"Mn." Lan Wangji replies, nodding. It's odd how sometimes he shows no signs of concern in bothering Lan Wangji and even so apologizes for meaningless stuff that wouldn't disturb others.
Wei Wuxian's eyes brighten. It's the first time Lan Wangji talked to him without disapproval in his voice.
Wei Wuxian giggles, "I knew you weren't that mean, Lan Zhan! Reconsidering my friendship proposal, huh? Nothing strengthens a relationship like sharing a drink!"
Lan Wangji doesn't say anything, but Wei Wuxian doesn't feel discouraged, "That day when you got punished with me, your uncle looked pissed off. It's hard to read your expression because you always seem bored or annoyed, but that's just your face, right? You must've been sad after being scolded, should've just listened to me and let that night be our secret. No one would get punished."
Lan Wangji wasn't expecting that topic, so he takes a moment to gather his thoughts, expression unfazed, "It is my duty."
Wei Wuxian takes a long sip of his drink and scoffs, "And couldn't you take a day off or something? I didn't know you were Gusulan rules supervisor." He shakes his head, letting out a sound that Lan Wangji understands as disapproval.
A minute passes where none of them say anything but Wei Wuxian doesn't seem to take more than that, "That's why I invited you. You were around past curfew because you thought I'd cause trouble, right?" He doesn't need to answer. "I knew as soon as you realized you're breaking a rule, you'd drag me with you and ask for punishment, but wouldn't that make your uncle angrier? Would you be okay, Lan Zhan?"
Lan Wangji was not expecting that, "..."
Wei Wuxian rambles on, "Back at Lotus Pier, I'm always getting punished." He takes another sip, staring intently at the bottle. "Madam Yu doesn't like me, so she finds any reason to make me kneel in the ancestral hall. It's not like I enjoy getting scolded or driving her nuts, but I'm not the kind of person who can follow the rules all the time. That's just who I am, you know?"
Lan Wangji doesn't know. Wei Wuxian is his opposite in almost every way. Even so, he seems to be waiting for some kind of confirmation, so he nods, "Mn."
Wei Wuxian smiles, the hairs escaping from his red ribbon flow around his face basked in moonlight. Lan Wangji stares.
"I mean to say I kinda get it why you act like this. You don't wanna let your uncle down. You want him to be proud of you, right? I also want to be someone uncle Jiang can take pride in, but I can't change my whole personality for that. He never showed any signs of wanting me to do so either, only asked me to follow the clan's motto: attempt the impossible!"
Lan Wangji likes YunmengJiang's free spirit, and he's glad Wei Wuxian understands somehow.
"Lan Zhan, what's the Lan clan motto?"
Lan Wangji feels his gaze, "Be righteous."
The laugh that comes out of Wei Wuxian could wake up half of the guest disciples if they weren't so far from their quarters. Lan Wangji frowns while Wei Wuxian keeps laughing until he has to wipe tears from his eyes when he's out of breath.
He leaves the empty bottle aside, lifts one of his legs, and lays his head on his knee, staring directly at Lan Wangji, a smile playing on his lips, "It suits you."
Why Marinette and Adrien's relationship wasn't handled well in ML (Silencer Spoilers)
Honestly I'm so upset with Miraculous Ladybug right now because they're doing something Star vs the Forces of Evil has done before which is introducing us a great character, with a good personality who genuinely cares for the main character and wants to be with them and cherish them and treat them like they deserve (Jackie with Marco, Tom with Star). And honestly, it feels amazing to see someone in the show liking the mc so badly but it's simply plot device so that the love interests will notice "Hey now that you're together with someone else and not paying attention to me I think I want you" (Marco Diaz style).
The theme was done horribly in Star vs the Forces of Evil and painted Marco as some selfish jerk who's trying to steal a girl he didn't even want to begin with from her boyfriend (and his friend!!) to the point that cheating was involved - It got so bad that Daron had to create an episode where the main characters crushes on each other were all part of a curse so that the mistakes could be justified (yeah right, use magic, magic solves everything) - and now I'm really afraid that Miraculous Ladybug is doing the same with Marinette and Adrien.
Luka has always shown his interest towards Marinette, admiring and complimenting her whenever he could. While Adrien did do the same he kept arguing that it was out of friendship and there were no feelings involved (because of his undying love for Ladybug which is also becoming annoying but that's a topic for later). But in Silencer there's no Adrien at all. Marinette doesn't even talk about him, not even when Ladybug is speeding past his window and I'm sorry to say that but it was really refreshing to see at least one episode where Marinette is not obsessing over what Adrien would think of her or how to catch his attention or what Adrien is doing. She's not doing that about Luka either even though they spent the entire episode together. She's simply being herself and trying to help out her friends, her crush on him doesn't get in the way of that and that's the amazing part of that.
I'm not complaining, I really loved the episode but that's exactly the author's intention (trust me I'm a writer I've done this before). Silencer is meant for us to question our ships, they're showing us how great and in synch Marinette and Luka are. How they work together, how they help each other out. Don't tell me you didn't notice this:
or this:
also this:
C'mon! even when she's Ladybug? That's dirty Zag!
Also, let's not forget that even Hawkmoth knows what's up:
But it's all for nothing! They're showing us how Marinette's life could go if Adrien didn't exist. So that when we start saying things like "Awww they're so cute together" or "I want Luka with Marinette now" they'll come out and say "Ha! Joke's on you! Marinette loves Adrien and always will! Wanna know why? Because they're soulmates!" when on the next episode Marinette shows up stuttering and making a fool of herself in front of Adrien all over again.
Don't get me wrong, I like Adrienette... sometimes. They're cute together. But it's not healthy for Marinette to keep chasing after someone who's only told her he likes her as a friend. You can argue that she hasn't confessed to him yet but she has! Remember Weredad? She tells Chat Noir she likes him and he doesn't even consider the possibility. Speaking of Chat, another thing that's not healthy is his love for Ladybug. It's selfish and it's annoying. If I had a boy I liked and there was another boy who I cared for that kept hitting on me and trying to get me to kiss him and chasing after me even though I told him a hundred times that I'm not interested I'd cut ties with him until he could understand that it's not gonna happen. Honestly, to me Chat's presence in the episode was completely unnecessary. Ladybug could have defeated Silencer on her own had she not lost her voice (which was also dumb, c'mon Luka is smart and that plan they used to get her lucky charm to work was completely stupid). What did Chat do? Hit on her, tease her, be in love with her. That's it. His fight with Luka was completely stupid too.
Again,
I don't hate Chat or Adrien or any ship with him. I don't like the way Miraculous Ladybug is handling their relationship and I've had my doubts about his love being unhealthy ever since Marinette's mother told him to not give up and that his feelings are valid. It's like everybody is prioritizing his feelings over Ladybug's and telling him "One day she'll fall for your charms, just wait" and tell you what? She will! Because they're soulmates!
So it doesn't matter if Luka is supportive. It doesn't matter if he's selfless and funny and brave and honest. It doesn't matter if he genuinely cares for Marinette and got akumatized exclusively to protect her because in the end Adrien is meant to be with her, not him. At this point Adrien could even start ignoring Marinette, stop complimenting her or sit down and do nothing because guess what? While Marinette is hurt by him Chat Noir is gonna have room to win Ladybug's heart by offering her the love his other self denied her. It feels so dumb to just chalk it up to them being partners or soulmates, like she can't even control her destiny, make her own choice. She's not obligated to end up with someone just cause they work together, especially not someone who keeps imposing his feelings on her.
So this:
The love he has in his eyes and the way she blushes when he confesses and gets happy about it is all just teasing and plot device. They could even have ended it with Luka asking Marinette out and her saying yes and put in huge red letters "APRIL 1ST" as the credits roll because it's all a joke, guys. Even if Marinette does like Luka as well and goes out with him once, he's only there to make Adrien jealous, to make him question his "She's just a friend" bull*hit. So yeah, another show to add to my list of disappointments.
GUYS, guys, guys! You don't understand, I've tried literally everything to watch the new Brooklyn 99 episode. I made tons of accounts on tv servers and went as far as to download a vpn and try to mask my ip address so the damn website would think I'm Australian and let me watch it, nothing has worked! I know tons of you have already watched it so I beg you, please, please send me a link that actually works with no restrictions where I can watch it. It can even be a temporary link that'll only work for today. I don't mind. It's just... I've seen so many spoilers and I really want to see my babies again. Please help me
One of the reasons why I love Brooklyn 99 is cause somehow I can fit it into any conversation without completely changing the subject and even adding to the humour.
Today my mother talked about exaggerations and (she hates when I do it but) I remembered (s3 ep22: FBI) when Jake says "I can see [the scar] from 20 miles away!" and the FBI agent and Holt are all like "You must have incredible vision" "Or it's a really big scar" and Jake says he was clearly exaggerating and my mom even laughed a little (and didn't scold me for involving fictional characters into a real convo lol).
Then tonight I was with my cousin and she was talking about things out of context or when you're supposed to say something and you say something else entirely and I brought up (s4 ep9: the overmining) how C.J. takes a sip of the soup and says "That's gonna leave a mark" while Jake stands there completely confused and my cousin laughed a lot.
So yeah, I just love how people who never watched the show or never even heard about it can appreaciate it for its humour and essence. Just another reason why b99 is the best tv show ever, cool, cool, cool, no doubt, no doubt.
(Also my cousin is in police training (I guess that's how it's called) and so is her crush and she was talking about it and I just. I went ahead and showed her Jake and Amy and now she totally ships them life is great)
I Don’t Like You (Rewritten Marichat Drabble for last year’s Marichat May)
Okay, you guys are probably wondering why am I rewriting such an old drabble after so much time. Well there isn’t an specific reason to be honest, I was just looking at my AO3 profile and decided to read it again and I absolutely despised it! Like, there were so many mistakes both in language and grammar, which made me happy because I got to see how much I improved since the past year and I thought ‘hey I could do a lot better than this, and this, and this’ and before I knew it, I rewrote the whole freaking chapter lol so I hope you guys still wanna read it even though it’s been so long.
Also in case you haven’t been following me for long and don’t even know what the heck I’m talking about, here’s the old version
I put a lot of effort in showing all my new found writing skills so please if you want, give me some feedback so I can keep improving. Also, I’m planning to rewrite the ‘Confident Yandere Simulator Drabble’ I did last year as well so stay tuned guys ;)
(ALSO If you don’t like reading on tumblr, I’ve also posted it on AO3)
“Admit it” He said and she just knew he was with that stupid Cheshire grin on his face again. And that, if even possible, annoyed her ten times more.
When Marinette agreed to let Chat Noir in, she had the conviction that the decision would be something to regret sooner or later. But little did she know that the feeling would be replaced with pure indignation. How dare he had the nerve to transform into Chat Noir and knock on her balcony's window begging to be let in her room with the excuse that there was an akuma around her building and as soon as she closed the door, tell her that it was a lie.
“The true reason why you didn’t kick me out...”, he was talking again while toying with a ball of yarn from the table where she worked on her designs earlier. “...is because deep down you like me, purrincess.”
Marinette clenched her fists but was left speechless. If only she could transform into Ladybug and kick him out (possibly sending him flying all the way through Paris)… She quickly shook her head, Tikki would never approve of something like that, it was reckless and it would expose her identity, which couldn’t happen. So instead, she took a deep breath and counted until 100 inside her head.
“In your dreams, kitty.” Marinette said, smirking but her confidence wasn't enough to ruin his momentum.
He was grinning ear to ear and now they were a nose from each other. Marinette’s heartbeat was loud in her ears and she suddenly got conscious of the fact that she had been pressed onto her bedroom's wall. I don't like this, she told herself but the memories of the previous night with the black cat and the pig-tailed girl kissing under the moonlight that shone through her balcony weren’t helping it. Nor was him, with that annoying smile and his lips so close that if she just leaned in their lips…
NO! What the hell am I thinking?
Marinette raised her hand trying to block his mouth but she knew he wouldn’t do anything without her permission. He never did. There was a question before every kiss. Only one.
“Can I kiss you now, princess?” He whispered and he was so close he practically breathed on her ears, sending shivers down her spine.
She was startled, how come they always end up in this kind of situations? How did she end up in that position? Why her? She was in love with Adrien Agreste, the supermodel with a kind heart and a shy personality who lent her his umbrella when they first met. she wanted him, not that stray superhero cat. She never asked for Chat Noir's visits but he kept coming and Marinette let him. Marinette would never admit it but she was starting to uncover strong feelings for Chat Noir, those that she never allowed herself to feel under the disguise of Ladybug.
Of course she always turned him down easily beneath that mask but as Marinette it seemed impossible to private herself of his company. He was her partner after all and they had a lot of fun hanging out, first came the conversations then the jokes and now the kisses... She couldn't say it out loud but she appreciated and earned for it more than she should. With all that in mind, she had her answer.
Her raised hand inched closer to his face but instead of turning into a fist and throwing a punch, it held his cheeks under its palm and got rid of the distance that was preventing their lips from meeting. His smelt filled her senses, camembert - she remembered when she first asked why and she simply said it was because of his kwami's weird taste. He tasted like cookies though and she realized he had probably stolen one or two from her table while she was thinking of a way to get rid of him.
His hands found their way to her waist and hers gripped onto his hair, softly scratching behind his cat ears but carefully so he wouldn't recognize the touch of Ladybug. They had been kissing for a while now yet she didn't feel like she needed any air and that was what took her straight back to reality and she was faced with the wrongness of the whole situation. She needed to stop, the blue haired girl knew that if she kept this up those mysterious feelings would present themselves to her. Yes, she was in love with Adrien but there was no denying that Chat had a place in her heart as well.
Marinette pulled away, her hands losing their grip on him, she grabbed onto his arms and gently pushed him hoping that he would understand. But he didn't, Chat's green eyes were as lost as a stray cat's who's just been abandoned.
Oh no, what have I done? Maybe, maybe I can fix this if I just kiss him again... NO! I can't do this, this is wrong, it would never work, he might figure out my true identity and... And I don't like him, I definitely don't!
... Right?
Overwhelmed by her emotions, Marinette's eyebrows rose up. A frown took place on her face and as she fought a battle with her conflicting feelings, she completely forgot of the guy standing in front of her.
"Marinette? Are you okay?" He stepped closer to her, his eyes full of concern as he reached for her hand "What's going-
Before he could finish his sentence, the brunnete slaped his hand away, startling him as she changed their positions and backed him into a corner. Marinette was angry, no, she was furious, was she that weak without her mask that she let herself fall for him? How pathetic!
Chat attempted to talk to her again but she pointed her finger at him touching his leather suit, a fire lit inside her bluebell eyes
“I do. not. like. you.” She said every word slowly and surely, staring into his eyes like she was seeing through his soul though she had no idea how she managed to say such a thing when she couldn't even get her line of thought straight earlier. She sighed and waited for the normal reaction, how he always laughed, praised or attempted to kiss her again every time she tried to sound tough. This time though, her anger melted away as his eyes saddened, his mouth in a thin line. The realization of what she had done came crashing onto her.
He had believed in her words.
Her heart dropped, that was no ordinary bickering, she had him for real this time. But how? Did he... Did he have feelings for her too? But what about Ladybug?
She opened her mouth but couldn't bring herself to say anything as he walked away from her, stopping just in front of her balcony.
"Okay. I'm sorry for bothering you princess." He said it all without turning around or meeting her eyes, her ocean orbs who reminded him so much of his Lady's. And just like that he leaped into the night, disappearing behind the rooftops chimneys. And she stood there, with her heart aching and the guilty eating her alive. This time, without her knight to protect her from the akuma attacks, she wasn't sure if he would be coming back on the next day.
