"I don't know. I went but I..." Mal looked down at her hands. The nails trimmed as short as possible, the rough callouses that didn't disappear even when every aspect of her changed. Maybe that part of her DNA was too strong. "It was... ghoulish." Did that capture it? "The festival so close to the full moon, you know? Sitting there like I hadn't..." She wanted to be moving. Sitting on the ground surrounded by the trees felt like a good idea when she suggested it but everyone made mistakes. Her body needed to be in motion for her brain to gather any sort of necessary centrifugal force that could expel that dark feeling inside of her. "It was bad this time. I left it too late and picked the wrong person." Sixty feedings, give or take, and she still made mistakes that threw her entirely off balance. "It's just not good right now, Asa.
