merle icons requested by @asandygraves and @juiceboxfrog!!!
(please give me credit if you use my icons)
[ID: the two first images are two different versions of a digital drawing of Merle Highchurch, a chubby dwarf with light skin and a bushy gray beard with flowers. He’s smiling with his eye closed, and he’s wearing a yellow shirt, pink glasses and a black eyepatch. The background in the first drawing is the aromantic pride flag, and in the second is the panromantic pride flag.
The two last images are screenshots of asks from @/asandygraves and @/juiceboxfrog. The first one says “Aro flag + Merle?” and the second says “For the pride icons; Could you do Merle + the Panromantic flag?”]
Idk if you’ve already gotten Sans/Asgore but if not I’m just going to throw that into the pile
Doodle DAY 11 - Sansgore
I honestly love drawing Asgore this way! Also - some ANGST, to balance the sweetness of previous days.

Hello! I’m planning on drawing a webcomic where the main character is deaf, but I’m not sure where to have speech bubbles coming from when she’s signing; should they come from her hands, or her mouth, or just be a square of text next to her, or something else?
Hi!
1) It really boils down to preference and your abilities as an artist. If you struggle with hands, for example, then panels with close-ups on the signs wouldn’t be the best idea. The only hard advice I’d give as a Deaf person is to always represent sign language as speech — so speech bubbles are honestly the best place to start. Consensus from previous discussions on the topic is that the speech bubble tails should come from the hands. Anything after that is between you, your creative vision and your capabilities.
2) Speech is only one fraction of representing sign language; You can also use exaggerated gestures and facial expressions to convey what a character is saying. Anyone who’s been around this blog long enough probably knows what’s coming next, but I make no apologies for my obsessions. Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Hawkeye comics are excellent if you want to see how deafness can be done. I say “can be” because it’s far from the only way, but it’s my personal favourite.
Here’s a page from volume four:
Just look at that. The gestures! The blank speech bubbles! The numbered boxes for each signed word! Even with no traditional dialogue it’s understandable.
If you want more examples in a different style, check out Matt and Kay Daigle’s “That Deaf Guy” comic strips. Aside from being hilarious and painfully relatable, I’m weak for the animated facial expressions and how well they convey meaning.
[support them at their website!]
I’d also recommend reading this article about the Deaf superhero, Echo, which provides links to resources and insight into the deaf perspective, and how to convey that in visual media.
Hope this helps! Good luck
I adore how you draw Randy abd Dallas thank you for the good shit
You're welcome and thank you 💖
