currently possessed by the idea of a fic where sam and steve are happily married and steve is the househusband who cares for and homeschools their three kids and sam is of course Cap saving the world and looking fly as hell doing it. And one day bucky comes by while sam is on a mission to talk to steve which isn't weird, but he seems nervous and jittery which IS pretty weird and after some prying on steve’s part he just sort of blurts out "I slept with sarah," and steve is just like uhhhhhhhhh girl lemme go get some fruit snacks for the babies and then we can talk about this privately 😭

and it's not like steve is shocked or anything because it's not like he hasn't noticed something simmering between sarah and buck. if you didn't know him you'd just assume he was being nice, friendly, but he's known buck long enough to know better, and he sees the way bucky looks at sarah during sunday dinner (like she hung the moon and stars up by hand just for him), and has overhead him calling her "babydoll" on more than one occasion and definitely caught them slow dancing at the last family cookout.

so it's not a surprise to him. but he does, you know kind of ask so like is this a one time thing or??? and he knows by the look bucky gives that this is, indeed, not a one time thing and his best friend is in fact head over heels in love with his sister-in-law. and, okay, great! two consenting adults doing their own thing, that's fine by him.

but, you know, sam might actually kill him and bucky if he finds out.

which leads me to the question if sam isn't too happy with the idea of bucky dating his sister what exactly about that does he not like? is his relationship with bucky still strained because bucky never apologized for the times he tried to kill him? (did he make amends to everyone but sam?) does sam still kind of hate bucky for nearly killing steve? (the parallels of sam watching riley fall and then watching steve fall really can't be ignored and probably fucked him up for a while emotionally). does he just flat out not think bucky isn’t good enough? or that his line of work is too dangerous for him to be involved with her? is she his only living sibling (what happened to gideon?) and he's just fiercely protective? WHAT'S THE CONFLICT?! idk.

anyway I think they'd work through it and bucky and sarah would have a spring wedding. everyone gets the wilson of their dreams and everyone lives happily ever after.
