Most of my followers are probably well aware of my opinions on the “Is Eclipsa really evil?” topic by now, but since that has proven to be a relatively unpopular opinion in this fandom, I think it’s appropriate to mention it again. Seriously, I still see posts where people are saying they hope she turns out to be evil and I’m just....she already is?
Well, sort of.
She’s not the Evil™ we get with Toffee, but just because she isn’t that TYPE of villain, doesn’t mean she’s not a villainess in her own right. But I feel people are stuck in this mindset, consciously or not, where they were expecting her to be another one of that specific type (probably due to her intro being a Bill Cipher-esque handshake type of deal), so when she gave signs otherwise in these recent episodes, those people were like "ooo I guess she’s not bad, who is the villain this season then?”
There’s more than one type of villain, and acting like anyone who doesn’t fit that specific mold must not be a “bad guy” after all is incredibly dangerous.
