As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson

Such a bittersweet ending to this amazing trilogy!

Everyone’s favorite fictional true crime podcaster is back! Pip is wrapping up her senior year and things are looking up, but she can’t let go of the trauma she’s experienced. She surmises that she needs one final case to regain her peace and move on. Pip finds herself in the middle of a case when she discovers she has a stalker. She races the clock to see if she can unmask her stalker, whom she believes to be the true Duct Tape Murderer, before she becomes his sixth victim. Will Pip crack the case in time?

I found myself so torn on pacing for this book: I did not want this series to end and wanted to savor this BUT this was so hard to put down! This book pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I truly love the style of these books - laid out like a true crime website or report. And I’m really impressed with the ability to continue to weave major storylines from the series into each book, while creating a brand new story each time.

I highly recommend this wholesome true crime trilogy!

As Good As Dead is the final book in the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. “Pip is leaving for college soon but then another case finds her. She has an online stalker that knows where she lives. The police don’t believe her and Pip finds connections between the stalker and a local serial killer. If Pip doesn’t find answers, this time she might be the one who disappears.” This has been a good series from Jackson. But this Pip is a slightly different character than the first two books. The self-assuredness is missing and she’s resorting to anti-psychotic drugs to sleep at night. The first part drags but then a thing happens and then another thing makes you go 😮. (No spoilers) The ending was surprising. Jackson seems to be aiming for “morally grey” This is a series that should be read in order. I listened to the audio version of each book. It’s a big cast with an excellent performance. Nice to see some thriller YA.
