♡ the internet judges a good partner based on an orange. yes. an orange. supposedly, if you were to ask your partner for an orange, they would give it to you. and if you asked them to peel it, they would peel it for you. sounds reasonable.

♡ you got roped into this mass test by your friends. and since you and ash were going steady now, it was the perfect time to test your girlfriend and see if she really was a good partner.

♡ your standards were not necessarily that high. you just wanted a partner that listened to you, that comforted you, that respected your boundaries. and—most importantly—someone that picked you.

♡ after a lifetime of not being picked, it was only fair for you to find someone that picked you and chose to be with you.

♡ ash came a few minutes late. "hey! sorry! i just got your message!" she looks a little tired, dressed down from what she usually wore. "is everything alright? you said it was an emergency!"

♡ "i mean...not exactly?" you say, letting her into the dorm. you sit back down on the seat, waiting for ash to come closer. "i think i'm...craving an orange."

♡ "an orange?" ash notices the bowl of oranges and she picks one up, gently squeezing it. she puts it closer to her nose, takes a whiff, and then looks around the whole thing. "i mean the doctors did say you were low on vitamin c."

♡ "okay...maybe i am." you can't even believe she remembered that one off detail. you answered her question when you got your blood taken recently. "but...i can't peel it. can you peel it for me?"

♡ "do you guys have a knife?" ash raises her eyebrows, looking at you and your friends. she didn't even ask you why you wanted her to peel it for you.

♡ kimberly eventually gives ash the knife, to which ash offhandedly remarks that she needs to sharpen it. but it's sharp enough to cut through the rind. and you and your friends watch in utter fascination as ash peels the orange with precision. and she's looking at you while peeling it. as if she's done this millions of times.

♡ "how did you get so good?" you ask.

♡ "well i used to peel fruit with my grandparents a lot." ash says as she sets the rind on a paper towel on the coffee table. she begins to peel off any hanging white strings, trying to clean it up. "and, um, i spent some time with my in-laws. my cousin married a thai woman so i stayed over at their house for a summer and helped out her parents with fruit peeling and whatnot. i can peel ginger with a spoon."

♡ you can hear whitney whispering about how impressive this was. and honestly, how ash was clearly better than cooper.

♡ ash sets the knife down and splits the orange, setting one half on the paper towel. she peels a section, holding it out for you. "here. so you can raise your vitamin c levels." she smiles.

♡ yet when you reach out to grab it, she quickly moves her hand back. and there's a twinkle of mischief in ash's eyes. it pairs well with the smirk on her face.

♡ so you move closer to her. "you sneaky little shit." you grab the piece and bite into the juicy section. ash absolutely loves the look of satisfaction on your face and the smile. when you finish eating the segment, you have to lean in and kiss her.

♡ ash smiles and enjoys the lingering taste of oranges on your lips.

more ash stuff because yeah. i've been thinking about this since the preview from the last episode.

♡ it's stereotypical for gays to start dating and then move in with each other.

♡ it's safe to say that now you're part of that. and you see why. it's appealing to live with your girlfriend after going steady and after seeing her pass the orange test without any issues, you decided to jump at the chance. you were having trouble with your roommates anyways, to the point where you couldn't stand being in the same suite as them. especially with all the drama centering your friend and her boyfriend and people picking sides.

♡ ash was in an apartment with one other person and she was the first one who moved in, so she claimed a whole room to herself.

♡ housing approved of the room change, so ash helped you pack your stuff up and move it. thank god she didn't live that far off campus.

♡ ash is a little messy. she's got things scattered around the room. it's organized chaos, essentially. it doesn't make sense to you, but it makes sense to her. you just wish you didn't slip on a shirt while you guys were making out and she was backing you up against the bed. the bruise on your cheek was quite gnarly.

♡ ash was always crawling into your bed and cuddling you. she needed something to cuddle while sleeping and her favorite thing was her partner—you obviously.

♡ stealing her clothes has never been easier!

♡ although one thing you didn't expect was learning that ash was a bit of a singer. though you didn't mind. she had a nice voice and it was cute to watch her fold laundry while having her headphones on and whispering the lyrics to the song she was listening to.

♡ you love your girlfriend. you really do. and sometimes when you were out late (whether it was at the library or for a lab), you always came home to her waiting for you. sometimes though you would come back to see her asleep. so you'd brush her hair aside and give her a kiss on her forehead and pull the blanket over her.
