5.16 Dark Side of the Moon Written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin Directed by Jeff Wollnough Original Air Date: April 1, 2010
everybody loves a clown WHAT an episode. dean halfheartedly trying to hit on jo and just stopping halfway through, for once not up for putting up an act. and then turning her down again at the end of the episode after acknowledging that normally he’d be hitting on her ‘fast enough to make her head spin’. but sure yeah his dad just died it’s just not the time, right?
except he then immediately turns around and gets SO flirty with ash. and it’s so obviously genuine and doesn’t feel at all performative! like, dean already seems interested and impressed by ash at the start of the episode. but then at the end of it ash makes a queer movie reference that sam doesn’t get, and then shoots dean a look to see if he clocked it. and right after that dean angles in and turns on the eyelashes and gets flirty and it feels so REAL and subtle and different from the interest he’s generally expressed in women up to this point.
I realise I never talk about Ash, but he might be one of my favourite characters, like, ever. He is who I aspire to be

If Dean wasn't so repressed he so would have had a night with Ash
First complementing his hair (first time he's ever given a man a compliment in canon) then he backs off from the laptop with a single look.
BISEXUAL DEAN FROM THE GET GO MY GOOD SIRS
You remind me of a different hunter... Have you ever met anyone by the name of Harvelle?
Hi, Sweetheart. I know of a few people that go by the infamous surname Harvelle. In fact, they are remembered for being some of the best hunters out there. They gave every monster they faced Hell and they all had strong bonds with one another that could have never been shaken up easily.
Ellen and Jo were both fiery, independent, and strong-minded women. They were both stubborn, loyal, and did what they thought was best. May they both rest in peace alongside the loving father and doting husband, Bill Harvelle and their closest confidant Ash.
