Marketing can make or break your book! Here are some tips, and topics to further research.

Have a great cover. It truly is how people judge a book, and if your cover itself can help sell the book, that’s a win. This means eye-catching and unique while still fulfilling genre expectations.

Do a cover reveal to build up excitement

Add your book to Goodreads

Use ARC readers to receive reviews before and on launch day

Do a preorder campaign

Consider offering preorder incentives! Little freebies like stickers, bookmarks, early access to a few chapters, etc

Get on BookTok and Bookstagram and make use of IG Reels

Do a giveaway

Build your email list by using incentives. I give the first chapter away for free for every signup

Consider using Amazon ads once your book is up

And finally:

Never stop marketing. You may be done writing and your book may be out in the world, but this is anything but passive income. You need to keep being in love with your book and sharing that with the world!

Does your animal crossing island have a specific aesthetic??

It does!

And it's "I have literally never terraformed once in my life, and there are like a maximum of 3 things on my island for 'decoration'" aesthetic. I literally have just two bridges, and no inclines. It's very much still the island that I originally had with no modifications.

It's very beautiful and I put so much effort into it 😤

anything you're particularly excited about re: frost and fire?

HI & thank you very much for giving me an excuse to talk about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO:

I'm super super super excited for the part where Enna tells Zerve about Zibra and who he is (her older brother) and what happened to him (He died (poison) and Enna was framed for it, forcing her to go on the run), because its the biggest moment in her character arc, she finally trusts someone enough to tell them about her family, and its just such a big moment for her because she trusts someone completely for the first time in decades (besides Anne) and its just such a big moment for her.

also because Zibra is cool and awesome and hes fun to write about even though he's dead and doesn't have any proper screen(?)time.

and i'm also super excited for the moments where there's backstory reveal. I love those. Because even though they've been friend for about 15 years most of them know nothing about the others pasts beyond the basic details and its just fun to write their reactions to finding out Enna's aunt is a devil or Ana went into dash's memories to pull him out of Shadow or that Cerea became an archdruid at the age of 31, the youngest archdruid in a millennium.

Its fun.

Underwing Ask: Do you prefer writing dialogue or action? (Bonus if you share a snippet, but no pressure!)

Action, usually! Dialogue is typically the bane of my existence, though there are times where it comes almost naturally. In the Amphitrite/Poseidon thing, it’s come along well (and is also a lot longer than I thought it’d be fghkolp).

Have a more dialogue-heavy snippet from it.

Her lips curve. “So where is your power? Tell me, great one, what domain is yours?”

His face flushes. She thinks that if she was on land, he’d tackle her. He’s apparently not fool enough to dive in the water for her. Unfortunate. It would have been a fun sight. “What is your domain?” he redirects.

“I am Amphitrite,” she tells him. Defeat causes his eyes to darken. He recognizes the name. “I am goddess of the deep and the creatures that dwell there.”

“A sea patron,” he clarifies, lip thrusted out.

One corner of her lip rises without consent. “Yes.”

He wrinkles his nose at her reply, staring petulantly at the sand under his bare feet. He drags the ball of his foot against the sand. “So you mock me,” he grumbles. “I am just searching for what you have.”

Amphitrite laughs. “I belong to the sea,” she says, waves lapping against the deep gills slashed on her throat, curling over her collarbones. She looks like her creatures, like a thing of the ocean. It is of no question that she belongs. It is of every question that he does. “You do not. It is as simple as that.”

@talesfromaurea did a halloween ask, which I absolutely loved, so I'll share it with you, too: how do your characters handle halloween? love it/hate it/just want to get the candy and go? do they decorate or throw a horror movie marathon?

Ohhhhhhhhh Halloween ask!!!! A personal favorite holiday, thank you so much for this, okay!

I'm going to answer for the faction (the main characters of Paragon)

Kay, Matt, Nate, and Reese absolutely love Halloween. Kay and Matt love the costumes and the parties and Nate and Reese love the decorating and horror movies and telling scary stories.

Shaun only gets dragged in because Matt asks nicely (yes, after they get together he's forced to do couples costumes, Matt would never let him off the hook for that).

Sky gets dragged in because of her sister and they did their fair share of sibling costumes when they were little. Halloween has become rough since their father died, but Sky makes do and relearns to love it with the faction.

Nic isn't really into it at all, but the team convinces her to give it a shot. She wears the simplest costume she can think of and eats all the candy and everyone is pretty happy with that 😆

I don't think Halloween will ever be relevant in canon but it brings me joy to think about it, thank you so much for dropping by and asking 🤗😊
