so we’re still working our way through this year’s offerings of romantic Christmas movies (and still waiting patiently for Happiest Season which looks promising) but here’s some from past years that we’ve enjoyed (and much preferable to Operation Christmas Drop) in case you’ve missed any -- 

* Make The Yuletide Gay (2009, available on Prime). Hilarious. Admittedly, I don’t remember much other than the cheese hat moment but I remember it being very enjoyable with lots of funny moments

* Let It Snow (2019, Netflix). I enjoyed this. Partner didn’t. It depends how much you like teen dramas, I suppose. It feels like the Christmas special of Riverdale or something. There’s a lesbian! a LESBIAN!

* The Knight Before Christmas (2019, Netflix) is cute, predictable, and not memorable in the slightest except that my girlfriend is a historian and thus I had a great time. 10/10 would show to a medievalist again. 

* Holiday in the Wild (2019, Netflix) surprised me actually. We went into it thinking it would be very white savioury but it was actually okay?? (at least imo) pretty damn cute in the end. or maybe that was all the cute baby elephants, who can say?

* Christmas Inheritance (2017, Netflix). Your classic ‘rich girl goes to a cute little hometown’ Christmas movie. Cute, enjoyable, but not really memorable. Honestly can’t remember a thing about it other than some cute smalltown moments.

* The Holiday Calendar (2018, Netflix). Pretty sure this was a fever dream. What a wild fucking idea. I do love that it’s a majority POC cast and from what I remember we really enjoyed it. But what a wild fucking idea.

* The Holiday (2006, available on Netflix) is an obvious one that people apparently go hog-wild for. I thought it was fine. Like??? But whatever. This list wouldn’t be complete without it. 

* Serendipity (2001, available on ???). This is probably my ‘The Holiday’. I just think it’s adorable and it hits all the big Rom Com high notes for me. 

Honourable Mention: it’s not a Christmas movie but Big Eden is a cute gay movie with the same warm and fuzzy vibes you’d get from these holiday romcoms. it’s a smalltown romance where the native american store owner shows his love for this returning new york artist by cooking for him and the entire town are cheering him on. it’s just so cute. there’s also a dog! you might have to search to find it though. we ended up having to buy it on DVD since it got taken down from Netflix.

I just answered this question but I’m literally obsessing all the time about a lot of things so here are some more things I’m currently obsessed with:

“Dream Boy” by Beach Bunny (literally any song by Beach Bunny tbh)

Greta Van Fleet in general (I’m a big Led Zeppelin fan and the vocal style is so similar that I’m just in love with everything they put out)

Star Trek Online again for the hundredth time

Pokemon Sword

(Tweaked a teensy bit cuz in my “canon” the mages are recruited, so the Chargers are the ones who take care of the Therinfal Redoubt quest.)

“An envy demon, they called it.” Daffodil arches back on her velvet chaise, bats the air with her silk fan. “Of all the silly little things, envy? And to think that it could cause such a mess…”

She tuts, shaking her head. Her heavy, golden earrings swing like pendulums. “Of course, envy can make an insecure man do all sorts of things. If I may be so bold; the Lord Seeker was doomed from the start. Is that cruel to say? No matter. I’ve said it. And I’ll say it again, too.” She coughs behind her fan.

“But, if you please, don’t tell Lady Pentaghast I said so. She was terribly fond of him, the poor lamb.”

The bard clears her throat. “By and by,” she says, “The Lady Inquisitor granted us permission to search Therinfal Redoubt, and there we found all sorts of strange things. Corpses, markings on the walls, some strange business with lyrium. Clear signs of demons; you could feel it in the air, thick and foul and wrong. It was gone before we’d arrived, of course, but it left a trail. Whispers in neighboring villages, strange goings-on, those kinds of things. It was a shapeshifter, you see; it could impersonate anyone it wished.”

“It took new shapes when we caught up to it,” she said. “Of the Chief, of Cremisius. Even Seeker Pentaghast; it could look into our memories, you see, and steal faces it’d never actually seen. Impressive, really. Pity it wasted all its talents on…well, demon things. Such a creature would make a fine actor, with the right direction. But I suppose it doesn’t matter.”

Her face puckers in a deep frown. From a small side-table, she picks up a jewel-encrusted goblet filled with wine. Daffodil takes a very, very long sip. Her broad shoulders begin to quake.

“It tried on my face, too. But not this one, exactly.” With a sweeping gesture, she motions to her broken nose, the scars cut deep into her pale skin. “It came to me with the face I had before my…accident. Told me it could fix me, and that I’d be beautiful again.”

She slams her cup down, and shrieks, “Again, it tells me! As though I’m not beautiful, just because of a few little scars!? As though men and women haven’t thrown themselves at my feet for years! This monster, crawling around looking like a plucked chicken, had the gall to tell me that I’m no longer beautiful!”

Daffodil sucks in a hard, low breath. She leans back in her chaise, fanning herself. After a long, quiet moment, she says, “The thing got what it deserves. Whatever remains we could scrape off of the walls and floorboards were burned and buried. Good riddance, I say.”

She asks him if he’ll help her build the cabin.

He’s honored and humbled to say he will.

Seven years pass.

Walter’s been over-checking everything, constantly on the monitors and looking for anomalies. When Daniels laughs (with relief in it, though, and a certain fondness), he just tells her he’s been thorough.

They don’t wake the colonists until they’ve landed and done full scans for a certain strain of life, just in case.

Origae 6. Population: Walter, Tennessee, Daniels, 1,953 colonists, and 1,124 future, second-generation colonists.

The official story given for the tragically short-handed crew is a cryo malfunction. These people don’t need to know where they went, or what they saw.

Tennessee learns quick; Daniels is able to teach him how to operate most of the terraforming and construction equipment within a week, and the designated carpenters among the colonists learn from him.

Walter, as promised, follows Daniels further out from their landing site. It’s half a day’s walk away, but it’s beautiful; a lucky clearing, halfway up a mountain, looking out over the eerily-clear water source that leads, miles away, to humanity’s newest pit stop.

A strange, unrecognizable function in Walter urges him to put his arm around Daniels as they look out at the massive, stretching bend of river, so he does. She’s warm, and her arm goes around his waist much tighter than he holds her.

The beginnings of Buzyges rise quickly from the dirt; land is smoothed out quickly even as their temporary shelters are established, and the first building of many goes up within the week. Even with Walter’s help, and a small shelter established so the two of them can keep working on the cabin as soon as they wake up, they’ve only got the frame of it built by the time Tennessee sends word that they’ll be tilling the first fields soon enough.

It never occurred to her or to Jake that neither of them knows the first thing about building a home from the ground up, and she gives the wood a sad smile thinking that even if things had gone as planned, Walter would be helping them build it anyway.

She still keeps that first nail around her neck; it means even more now that it represents not just Jake and the idyllic life taken from them, but also Walter fighting for her, saving her, and having the thought to bring it back to her because he understood the sentiment of it.

They’ve been sleeping in the same single-room shelter since they arrived, but after a couple weeks, Daniels has gotten into the habit of sleeping in the same bed as him, too. Not in any obscene capacity, just for the platonic intimacy of feeling another person near her as she sleeps.

After a couple more weeks, she stops thinking of it as platonic. If Walter notices how hesitantly she drapes her arm over his waist, or how calm her breathing becomes against his neck, he doesn’t say anything.

The cabin won’t be done for another month, at the fastest, but…

She gets the feeling they’ll be turning Walter’s room into an office, instead.

i unfortunately have no idea which companies would be good for that but I've been enjoying a lot of self published romance novellas recently on kindle, so maybe going through amazon would be an option?

thanks, friend <3 I have thought about self-pubbing under a pseudonym on amazon but the problem is getting an audience. like, I did it with a novel recently and it was... not great. it’s really hard to get seen. so I feel like I might earn more monies if I write under a well established company? idk I’m torn

it feels SO much better than it did in DDD (mostly cuz when I first played it on the 3ds there was no second stick for the camera so you were at the mercy of the flowmotion just doing whatever it wanted) but WOOO it’s so fun to run around so far

see the only kh game i’ve played to completion is kh2 so i have had zero experience w flowmotion and when the tutorial popped up i was like “meh i’ll try it once just to say i did it...” and then i used only flowmotion for like the rest of the fight alkjdsdlkfjaldsfjlasf
