previously he’d used work to escape his private life, but he hadn’t been back to the hospital since the carnival. it was.. uncertain how long he’d be gone, but it didn’t feel right going back knowing that he wouldn’t see ling again. the last time they’d spoken was a fight in that very place, and leopold just wasn’t sure how he could go about his normal rounds like everything was okay when it wasn’t. in a profession such as his, a common assumption would be that death was easier to stomach when surrounded by it, but. ling had been his best friend for just about his entire life, and even when not on good terms they’d worked alongside one another every day. and now he was just. gone.
he’d spent most of his time since keeping track of his siblings but he had to get out of the house at some point, finding himself sliding into a booth in the corner of the red diamond with a drink in hand. leopold was never much of a drinker, but desperate times called for desperate measures.. or whatever the saying was. and sure the place was pretty packed, but he couldn’t hide being peeved at someone else joining the booth. “no, yeah, feel free to make yourself at home,” he muttered with a scoff, taking a sip of the liquor in his glass.
