Katya Tilki. Vampire. Owner of The Red Diamond.
After bouncing around for a few years, sticking to vague names and short stays in small towns here and there Katya found herself hearing about Ashwick Valley through a close vampire friend, something was special about that place. Her years bartending, working clubs and festivals came to fruition when she saw the Red Diamond, looking for new management. Her heart was set, somewhere she could cater to vampires and put on a good show, live music, or all night dancing with a DJ she didn’t really care, what mattered was this felt like *something*. Now she’s more settled in, still a newcomer to town but slowly settling into the strange new whirlwind of a life, actually making some friends along the way maybe? Either that or Katya will be who she has always been, reckless and impulsive, wanting to party all night, in a different bed every few nights, it’s a wonder how she keeps it all together in the first place.
In 1916 Yekaterina was born to a perfectly normal Turkish family, a family of merchants going back possibly centuries, but her father chose when she was 6 to move them to America when rumors of new immigration laws were circling, he wanted a better life for them - the ship brought them to a land of glamor and bright lights that she could never have even imagined. They eventually settled to live in a small town in North Carolina, her father still working on the docks and his daughter at his side as often as she could, learning the mechanic trade and *attempting* to keep out of trouble.
Their life was simple but happy until war broke out. Yekaterina - now preferring to go by Katerina or Katya - was 23 when the news broke and as the daughter of a ship's engineer as he was no longer around to do the job it was no question whether she joined the forces or not, despite her jobs working in speakeasies and little cafes (when she could keep them that way). She was shipped out soon enough and saw much of the battle from the ship she worked on. Unfortunately, her simple happy life wouldn’t stay that way and like so many others she was soon given orders to go out to the battlefield, to fix and fight where she could. At 28 this would be her demise, killed in action, and only a letter sent home to her mother reporting of her death. Or at least that was what everyone would think. She had managed to crawl toward a nearby village, hopeful for help or at least something more peaceful than being in the mud, help was certainly what she got but not in the way she expected. Maybe some of those old folk stories weren’t quite so fairytale horrors after all. Katya stayed with her sire for only a few days, thankful for his help through the bloodlust, learning what this new ‘life’ meant and how it worked, but as quickly as he had appeared to her rescue he was gone.
Sneaking back onto a ship at the end of the war was easy for the woman, finding her way back to the states and hopeful she could reunite with her mother, as so many other things in her life this didn’t go to plan. Perhaps she had moved, or perhaps she had been caught up in bombings, all Katya knew was she had no family in North Carolina anymore and even if she did, was it safe for her to be there at all? Changing her name was easy enough, finding contacts to help her along the way, she adopted the surname of Fox for a few years, a nickname she had been given during the war due to her flirtatious attitude, but soon she found comfort in Tilki - Turkish for Fox and a way to remember her family and past life.
CONNECTIONS;
Noones Arms Felt More Like Home; The one she doesn’t know how to describe, are they best friends? Are they friends with benefits? Some would go a far as wondering if they’re dating. Katya doesn’t know, and doesn’t care to put a label on it, all she knows is he’s her person and whenever he’s around she’d drop everything to be there. He feels more like home than any of the hundreds of places and people she’s met before. [ Jasper Barclay ] We’ll Take The World By Storm; (Vampire) The ride or die bestie, they always seem to cross paths every few decades or so, always seem to find some trouble to get into but at the end of the day they tell each other everything. Katya didn’t expect to find them in Ashwick but now that they’re reunited she’s more than excited to have her friend back in her life. Others; (will trty to update with time) Any of her employees for the Red Diamond, fwbs/hookups, old flames, frenemies, actual enemies - someone she despises, close friends etc etc.
